Ambient lighting broken? Brand new ML350

Ambient lighting broken? Brand new ML350
Hello everyone! My 2014 finally arrived today!!! Yay! I ordered it from California and had it shipped to Hawaii. Except for the grease foot print on the seat everything looks great!

I did notice a few things though. Number 1, I was excited to see the ambient lighting work and door sills, but I cannot get them to turn on. I purchased them and I have the setting at level 5 and amber. I do not see anything from underneath. Is there anything I am doing wrong or that you suggest?

Luckily if I do have to go to a dealer, there is one on island, although I am sure they will not be pleased I chose to purchase from out of state. Whatever, I got an amazing deal they would not match.

Bring it in. They won't care that you bought it from someone else since they'll probably make more money fixing your broken lighting (if it's broke) than what they would make off selling you the car.

Yeah, bring it into the dealer. You should see the light pouring out from under the wood trim all around the vehicle. It's beautiful.

I love the ambient lighting. I like Amber for the daytime and Polar for the night.

I thought mine was broken and took it to the dealer. It turned out that my son had turned it off. There is a switch on the ceiling close to the sunglass holders that would turn them on and off. I was quite embarassed when the dealer told me!

Yes I can. Perhaps you have the brightness level set too low or it's just the bright sun down in GA compared to my world of fog in San Francisco.

I confirmed this too this morning. If you press the OFF button on the roof the ambient lighting goes off too. Maybe that is all your issue is, a simple flip of the switch.

Yes there is. Push the SYS button on your COMAND unit and then select settings, then display, then you can adjust the brightness level there

Yes. Mine goes to a nice black background screen at night. I think it's set through COMMAND but to be honest I forgot.

Yes, the options are like day screen, night screen or auto. On automatic it changes to night mode (black map background) in the dark.

The night screen is still way brighter than the rest of the dash; and it's distracting and detrimentally affects my night vision.

You should see that screen with NightView turned on..... way distracting, but at least you can see what your hitting while distracted. I wish it was projected onto the windshield.
