2015 ML250 Bluetech
I was leaning heavily toward the Audi, having compared it to the Lexus GX 300, wife liked the Lexus, I wanted a diesel. Yesterday we drove the GLK and both of liked it...a lot.
There is no doubt that the GLK is great...but, cargo space, rear seat room are a real concern. My crate for my German Shepherd will fit, but does not leave much room left over. Rear legroom also seems tight.
On the other hand, the electronics and dashboard arrangement in the GLK is very nice compared to the Audi. Lastly, the performance of the Audi diesel, is much better than the GLK.
So the burning question is, why did you select the GLK over the Audi. I am about to pull the trigger on one of these, so any input would be appreciated.
Thanx".......
That being said, I've been in my 2014 ML350BTC for almost 7 months and 16k miles; and just ordered a 2015 Audi Q7 3.0 TDI to replace it. Much better car!

Isn't the Q7 more comparable to the GL in size?

Yip I was one of those -did do lots of fact checking and comparison
So we settled on aGLK250. But the dealer did a major mess of our order which ment after awaiting 3months (fully loaded) we were totally disappointed as the main thing -lather package & overhead panel was wrong color!! Initially we got lot of pressure from the dealership and even MB head office was not much help. Strangely when lawyers get involved it changed fast. So long story short we settled on a vehicle from their stock at huge discounted price and off we went
That's where our "vehicle" issues began - no spare tire in glk ( even though we have in writing glk will have a "doughnut" spare) Add-blue issues -hd radio , bt and various things breaking down or stopped working. Since we were already on our planned road trip was no fun to deal with nb dealers or with Mb itself!
So back to lawyers and the dealer gave us a great trade after 9k on clock and now we continue our Round America journey in fully loaded Q5 TDi
And yes it has full spare and add blue filler is net distal filler. There are lots of thongs that glk don't even offer eg 4g hot spot -it especially great when we on road and have to write reviews while partner drives!!one major point to our surprise - mileage with glk was never above 36mpg however we get 35mpg +with audi!!!! And you feel like twice the
power and torque with audi.
And we got still better deal via the same dealership (Mb & audi was same owners) oh audi gave us one year free hd Sirius -premium setup for USA Canada and Mexico !!!!great with our B&O setup!!!
I have had nearly 12 Mb cars during my working life -and currently own cls55 in garage@home might be changing to r8 soon !!!!
Hope this helps
Happy motoring

As to the wipers, it's one of my minor gripes about the ML. On the Q7, the wipers drop down to the rest position whenever you shut off the car. Not so with the ML. They stop wherever they happen to be when the ignition is turned off. When it's freezing and the car is turned off, the Q7 wipers automatically come up slightly above the rest position so that they are in an area where the heat of the defroster will keep them from freezing to the glass. Not so with the ML. This is just one of many minor niggles with the ML vs the Q7.
I also have two major gripes (transmission and Airmatic suspension) with the ML, and they are the reason I'm getting ready to take a bath on the ML when I unload it.

I have ridden in the Q7 and really wasn't impressed. It was less than a year old and yet there were several squeaks and rattles and the owner who was a realtor said it had been in for repair multiple times in the first year. He was looking to unload it.
To each their own, I guess.
I will admit, I've had a ton of issues with our current ML bluetec, but I still enjoy driving it, and it's power, efficiency, looks, and interior.
The Q7 is ready for a re-do, and I may check it out once available....but I'll stick with the bluetec for a couple more years.
