Arrow Shift quality Service Campaign

Service Campaign 2014060003 JUN14 - 2014 166 & X166 SCN coding to engine control module will optimize transmission shift quality. Approximately 7,507 vehicles affected have dealer check VMI to see if VIN is included.

Unfortunately, my ML is not included in this campaign. So I just have to live with the lousy shifting.

Mine is also worse when the engine and drive train are not FULLY warmed up. This tranny is doing the exact same thing, only worse, that my 2007 ML 320CDI did.

One would think that MB could have been able to improve things in 7 years of use. I guess not!

interesting. I just logged into Mbrace and this campaign is showing up. My husband recently commented on the shifting. I guess I should get it in!

My ML350 kinda over reves when shifting from one gear to another in the morning for about 2-3 minutes. It never does it after that. I will admit that my ML does not shift as smooth as my Lexus LX570 but is more than suitable for me.

The manual says "Upshifts take place at higher engine
speeds after a cold start. This helps the
catalytic converter to reach its operating
temperature more quickly."

Is that what you guys are talking about?

On mine the engine flares between shifts when cold, and the selected gear frequently feels like it's been selected with a hammer. The other day it downshifted so hard that my daughter thought we had hit something.

This is the same transmission that was in my 2007 ML320CDI. It, too, shifted hard; but this 2014 is worse. One would hope that MB would have worked out the bugs in 7 years, but it appears to not be the case. Shame on MB!

Did you have your dealer look at the issue? How many miles do you have on your ML? Transmissions adjust to the driver when they are new. When I got my 09' Camry, I wanted to return it the next day because it was shifting totally weird.

No. I don't trust a flat rate wrench jockey to make it any better. 4800 miles.

I plan to trade it and go back to an Audi Q7 this Fall. The transmission on my 2010 Q7 was silky smooth and the Airmatic suspension was far superior to that on the ML.

If you don't trust your dealer, you should find another MB shop to go to. It doesn't get better from complaining in this forum.

You have been of great help before and I am asking for your assistance again.
I have a 2007 ML350, VIN 4JGBB86E17A218372.

I am experiencing some occasional transmission issues and in addition to changing the transmission fluid and filter, including the fluid in the torque converter and cooler, I’d like to remove and clean the valve body and conductor plate assembly. Do you have any information that could guide me through this repair?

If so, I would greatly appreciated it. I would have sent you a private message, but the forum says that I am not authorized.
