PROBLEM: Paddle shifters not working poor shifting!
Woke up this morning to go to the office and I noticed that the transmission was not shifting normally. With very little throttle the RPMs were going up to 3000 to 3500 before shifting to the next gear where it normally shifts under 2000rpm. Clicked the shift up paddle to get it into a higher gear and it did nothing.
Neither paddle works anymore. Crusiing at 40-50mph my ML stays in the 3000 or higher range instead of 1500. All was working perfectly yesterday, this happened without any warning.
Note: my 250BT tranny has always slipped/over reved at little when cold and shifting gears, first thing in the am but stops doing this after only a mile or two. Others here have reported the same so I figured this was normal. I doubt this has anything to do with this problem.
I will call service when they open, just got it back from the 10K, hate to think they caused this . . . . . got to go to Atlanta tomorrow and don't need this!
Anyone got any secret methods or waking my tranny up?

Does shutting it off and restarting do any good; i.e reset anything? Sounds like a warranty issue to me.

I will be calling MB this am to bring it in. I sure hope this is not the start of something, I owned 10 different Lexus and not a single problem where I had to have it serviced prior to maint time. I love this ML, but I can not tolerate multiple service visits. There are multiple people who warned me before I purchased, I will be hearing: "I told you so" today for sure!

I did an impromptu code scan the other day and found a transmission code stored...not sure what that's about but it's soon to go in for service B so I'll mention,,and time for a new windshield ($$$$ ouch)..other than that pure pleasure..
Maybe try disconnecting your battery for 10 minutes?

Not thinking well of Mercedes or Orange Park. After putting me in Nissan Versa last week for my 10K, I called them this am and they, again, have no MB rentals. They said they would call me back, shortly, but it has now been two hours and no call back.
Anyway I removed the battery cable for about 30 minutes and all is though it never happened. Shifting normally like it should. I called back and cancelled my service but asked someone in service call me back so I could describe what happened.
Anyone wanting to bet these morons will not call back.

Call the Service Manager and leave a message asking for a phone number for the regional MBUSA rep, because his people don't call you back.
The Service Manager may respond.
If not, burn him to the MB rep too.

For now the battery disconnect did it and hopefully is was a one time deal. I can deal with the dealer every 10k, just do not want to do so more often.

I’m having the same problem!
I cannot get mine to shift with paddle shifters if it’s in sport mode. I’ve already had it in once I don’t know what’s going on now. Dropping off at Elite Mercedes in Springfield Missouri again. They keep saying there is nothing wrong with it but I’ve owned 4 Mercedes and know this is not right!

i know it’s 2023 but I recently bought a 2012 ML350 bluetec that does the same, running up hills paddle won’t shift, down the hill will work as new, also shifting at 3,000rpm, she was working flawless, till today.
