ML350 Blutec to ML250 Blutec
I swapped out my 2013 350 for the 2015 250 of anyone has questions on the model change I am happy to answer.
So far its not as powerful but not bad. I am happy to stay in a diesel though!

I was on a lease so I had to pay one payment, but its worth it due to the winter sales rates.
The pro is the mileage is better, how much I am not sure yet. I will report back after logging some miles this weekend. The 350 for sure had a nice weight to it, and noticeably more torque. The 250 is not bad, I am happy to report it is zippy in town. I prefer it to the 350 gas but not to the 350 diesel (sadly that's not an option anymore).
To get to some other questions, the 350 I swapped had 20k miles and it was ordered by me just like the 250. If anyone wants to purchase the 350 PM me for info of the dealer who has it. It was truly like new inside and out. No dents/scratches. The interior was like new. It was white/black with many options.

No offense to the OP but my wife and I took a ML250 out for a couple of hours a few weeks ago. We're now on the hunt for a leftover '14 ML350BTC. Naturally we expected the difference in the torque to be felt, but we thought this was drastic. It felt as if the truck was too heavy for this motor. My wife isn't as much of a car person as I am but the way she put it was that in our '12 350BTC, at highway speeds, it's smooth, just easily goes/glides, and is effortless to pass someone. As for the '15 250BTC she said it felt as if you had to keep pushing it to stay at speed, and it struggled when passing. What we did like was that, even w/ the software update, there's still a turbo lag that we've gotten used to. The 250 had no lag. I would also have to find a way to set the ECO & auto stop/stop to default to off on startup. In my BMW, upon startup, the auto start/stop defaults to whichever mode you were last in.
The next thing is the sound. I used to drive diesel trucks and we've had our 350 for over 2 yrs so we know what diesel clatter sounds like. The 250 though, on cold start up, had a direct injection type of sound/metallic clatter. I mean it sounded almost exactly like my 320i which has a turbo charged gasoline 2ltr 4cyl engine. After warming up and when at speed, did the 250 sound like a diesel.
The next thing is the sound. I used to drive diesel trucks and we've had our 350 for over 2 yrs so we know what diesel clatter sounds like. Nooooo!!!! Say it ain't sooooo!!!!! J/k, the 2014's are just about all gone. I'm forced into looking at former demos now. I'm not disagreeing with you that it isn't sufficient. For someone who never drove the 350, the 250 would be perfectly fine. Someone like my wife however, immediately notices the difference. And you are also correct in that both are better than the 350 gas.

You should buy my old 350... it had many options and only 20k miles. Literally like new inside and out. Not a dent scratch or scuff. PM for any dealer info if your interested.

I have been driving a "new when I bought" R350 Blutec. Just turned 72,000 mile and has 2 yrs left on a 6 yr. 100K full warranty.
I don;t need the R class "bus" any longer and was going to buy a new 2014 ML 350 Blutec.
In the end I will drive the R class til 100K then test drive a ML 250 Blutec. If unhappy I'll take a peek @ the BMW X5 diesel.
