Interesting seeing wheels for sale, and comments about park assist errors resulting in curb rash.

Does curb rash reduce a vehicles trade-in or resale value enough to warrant buying a set of rep wheels and storing the OEM until trade in/resale time?

I've basically stopped worrying about curb rash on my wheels...the amg came to me with scraped up rims and it doesn't bother me. My wife's E has rash on a few rims. The ML has pristine rims, wondering if I'd actually be saving money throwing reps on.

You can restore rashed wheels to like new condition overnight at Wheels America for less than $200 per wheel... so enjoy your wheels!

Also.. you bought the car and ate the depreciation for you, not for the enjoyment of the 2nd owner.

Sounds like a pain in the neck. You can always buy a perfect "takeoff" set with newish tires for about $1K on ebay. Or you can get yours refinished. Or don't care and the buyer will likely not care either.

It does make a difference on resale they will always deduct the refinishing which is around $200 each when they throw the number at you and when you want a explanation why the value they gave you is not the same with another car.

Always keep the oem wheels on the car when trading. If aftermarket wheels etc on car, it CANNOT be Certified. Your trade will definitely take a hit.

WANTING new wheels is enough reason for buying new wheels! . I agree with the advice above to repair and keep the OEM's for later trading the car at the dealer.

If I was planning on keeping it for a couple of years I would, but I currently see a gle coupe in my future. the 19" with all season tires seems like theyr'e less prone to rash than 22's
