Tire pressure for ML350 2015

Hi,

Just wondering what tire pressure you use for your ML.

I have a 2015 ML350 with 20 inch wheels but my problem is that the numbers on the B pillar says 45 psi and the gas cap says 32 psi. I called the dealer and all they said is to bring it in so they can take a look and tell me what tire pressure to use.

Mine is the 2012 ML350, gasoline version. It is my understanding that if you drive 100 mph constantly on the Autobahn you should inflate the tires around that 40-45 psi mark shown on the door. Ditto if you are loaded with passengers and gear or heavy tongue weight hauling. If you drive normal and with no load, the 32-35 psi range shown on the gas flap will provide the most comfortable ride. I keep mine between 35-38 all the time. This is a compromise but it serves my purposes for 90% of my driving time and situations. I imagine it would for most people as well.

I called MB USA on this and was told to use the numbers on the fuel door. He said they get this question all the time but really didn't say why the discrepancy.

This link will take you to a GLK tire psi bulletin which refers generally to what I was talking about in my previous post. It should also be applicable to the ML350.

I have 295/35R21s on my ML350 and I find that about 34 to 35 psi is good for standard driving. If you intend to drive it for a long distance fully loaded you should increase the tire pressure to max load pressures

If you want the most comfortable ride then 35 will probably be good, but you will likely see additional and uneven wear. I run my 19 in tires at 42 psi and they look great at 22k miles with perfectly even and light wear. In my mind, this is a 5000+ lb. vehicle running XL tires. 35 psi seems very low to me.

Agreed, it is plenty of comfort in this car, no need of improvements like low pressure in tires. Also it will suffer with bad gas milage on 35 psi.

My 2015 ML250 is just fine using the 35 psi recommended on the fuel door. Just completed 2,000 mi trip. Included driving around Cleveland & thru Chicago twice .Hwy speeds in low 70's. Trip avg 33 mpg. Have had MANY MB's. Never had a problem using recommended pressures more than 2 lbs. No bad tire wear either. ALWAYS rotate & balance every 5,000 miles.

On last leg of trip thru KY,TN,NC mountains averaged 35.6 mpg for 330 mi. Have 19" wheels w/ Conti Cross Contact LX20 ECO PLUS tires. I am an ex RALLEY driver so I do not baby my M.

I have a 2014 Mercedes ML350, I found that Mercedes recommends 32 lb front and 38 lb rear. I have 19" wheels.

They do not. Check your b-pillar sticker.

When my 2014 Bluetec had 19" rims the B pillar indicates 45PSI and that was perfect, when I put the 295/35/21 wheels on the tire guys also inflated those to 45PSI.... needless to say it rode like garbage. I have the 21's at 38PSI now and all seems to be good.

I run mine at 34 in the front and 36 in rear, though they are the same 255/50 19 tires all around - in fact they are the Michelin Primacy Tour A/S MO if that helps. I like the lower air pressure as these michelin tires send every crack/joint/rock feel all through the car (so the slightly softer air pressure helps with impact feel). When my tires were installed brand new they gave me the car with 45 psi and I thought my shocks were completely shot... turns out it was just the overinflated tire making the harsh ride.

In short 34/36 psi is my happy place.

Joel
