Yep! It works nicely but it's not "instant" if you will. It's one of those internet turn on type deals so its a good thing for when you're leaving for/from work and have a walk. you have to go into the app, hit the button, itll sync up and turn on. It'll come in handy during the winter that's for sure.

Nope. App only. I kinda like it because doing it through the key defeats the purpose of remote start. you can be literally anywhere and this will start it; it even tells you the car is on and has a timer(10 min). With the key, you have to be a certain distance (unless things have changed). I can start the car after my shift, change out of my scrubs, walk to my car, and it'll be nice and toasty. There's actually a lot of added stuff with the app that has benefits. Valet protect(you can have the gps track your car and if it leaves a certain area you designate you get a text and it shows on gps). You can locate your car. you can enter directions and itll put it into the nav. lock/unlock obviously. if you have kids that use it you can set a curfew and itll alert you if they use it. and there's a drive journal that will track the vehicle location as you drive. Most of the things are just cool features you can show off/use a few times, but i know the remote start will take some getting used to and will come in handy.

10 minutes is insufficient...up here anyways...minimum 15 even 20..
I have the Compustar with Drone which works great and gives 15 with I think 2 re-starts then you have to start the car with a key...I have in each of my 4 vehicles..problem with MB is the heated seat switch is not a physical switch that you can leave on and therefore does not function with the remote start...= fail but in the Lexus, Toyota and Honda they all can be left switched on = win

Ancient Thread, but want to bring up the app "Mercedes Me" no longer works with their current programs. The only thing we really used was remote start.
How can I get this back without aftermarket products?
Is there a way to get a software update so it works with the latest Mercedes application on the phone? ( my newer Merc uses the new app )
Or is there a way to program the fob to do remote start?

Unfortunately there is no resolve according to Mbrace. As of Nov 25 they terminated all 3G services. They also pretty much told me to find an aftermarket option today. The unlock, lock, remote start, and location feature will no longer be supported. They sent me an email about hum from Verizon. I got one today but that’s only for diagnostic and location. No unlock, lock, or remote start features.

Dear Mercedes owner family -- we're happy to inform you (for those that aren't already familiar with us) that our Smartkey Starter remote start solution will get you back up and running in better fashion than the factory option ever did. Adjustable runtimes, remote starting from factory key, automatic heated / cooled seats and defrost, smartphone control interface via Drone Mobile, and so much more -- take the opportunity to not only replace your pre-existing services, but level up -- in a big way!

I can vouch for the Mid City Engineering solution. I have Drone installed on my 2013 ML350 and my ML63. Works from the key fob and with the Drone App. I had it installed by a specialty provider. If you're brave and knowledgeable, I'd suspect you can do this yourself.
