I picked up the factory OEM car cover. Works great. I believe its a Noah cover.
Go on eBay, you can pick one up for a nice discount over the dealer.

Or California Car Cover Co. The material depends on your intended use, i.e. indoor, outdoor, need for minor impact protection, etc. One thing I don't like about any of the "waffle" fabrics is their bulk; a cover for an ML will take up a huge chunk of space when stowed. If you don't need some minor impact protection there are better options like Cal Car Cover's Superweave.

I picked up a $99 Microbead Indoor/Outdoor car cover, a sponsor on this website. At first glance, the outside material seems to be perfect for rain and snow. It has that silver, slippery texture to it. However, the inside isn't made of soft material like I've seen on others, even on ebay cheap covers. I don't know if this is a good thing or not.

I'm not surprised, with one caveat. Was your vehicle clean? Covering a vehicle this even slightly dirty can result in scratches. I dust the vehicle with a California Car Duster before covering mine.
And I suggest buying a quality cover. This is an area where cheap doesn't work.
