What is wrong with my low beam headlights?!

Someone please enlighten me! (Pun intended -ha!). I recently purchased a 2015 ML350 and when I drive at night, I can hardly see more than 30 feet in front of me! I see fine with the high beam lights (which I wish I could keep on because then my problem would be solved!).

We just tried replacing the low beam halogen and high beam with LED lights, and it made no differ nice where the low beam lights ar concerned. I feel like if I could replace the daytime running lights with a brighter light, my problem might be alleviated.

And speaking of the DRL--- in all other vehicles I've owned, they have always been down lower on the SUV, or more toward the side. On the Mercedes, its smack in the middle and the low beam is lower--- how does that make sense? What am I missing?

Any suggestions would be so appreciated! I need to see at night!

You've installed LED bulbs in a halogen headlight housing?

My suggestion is spend the necessary money and upgrade to xenon headlight housings.

You need an HID conversion kit. LEDs in forward projecting lighting in housing not designed specifically to capture LED surface mounted light spread will result in reduced throw distance and uneven lighting. The real proper thing to do is a xenon projector retrofit, but that's costly and involved... Most just throw HID conversion kit behind stock halogen projector and call it a day.

the Bi-xenon headlight assembly is avail on ebay, if you chose to go that route its worth it.

some people went the HID route in the newer GLE and are happy with it, get the longer range because halogens are default for the GLE 350, see the forums on the W166 GLE

I assume you have the halogen lights and not the Xenon. Aftermarket LED is a waste of time, do with a HID kit instead. The headlight's height is adjustable, just turn it up some and you will be fine.

Visibility from HID kit will definitely be better than the stock halogen headlights.

You might want to check out this thread on Morimoto HID kit upgrade, make sure you ask AZN Optics if you need a Canbus canceller, I believe you do need one or else you will get the bulb out error on your dash.
