My 2012 has 144,000 miles and after its last service, decided it was time to replace it. It was pretty problem free, just regular maintenance stuff, warranty covered most of the issues, but did have a couple of the coolant hoses replaced and a set of front axels, now it needs: “tech found the radiator is leaking from upper rad. Mount. Tech found the lower radiator hose is also showing signs of leakage. Replacement of radiator, lower radiator hose and the reservoir overflow line is recommended. $1,692.49” and “the front timing covers are showing signs of oil leakage resealing of the front timing cover is recommended. $1,254.25”

So, roughly double the power and longer life. I like it.
Which single model stands out to you as a good example, post-2008, that uses DEF and SCR in the North American market?

Please read the posts before responding with a request for the info already provided. It's a silly habit that you have and it seems that you do it at least once on every thread.
It requires "scrolling" upward. Try it.
OTOH if you don't understand the topic, perhaps do some homework and be a resource rather than a bother.

You're probably going to ask that I provide an example of "scrolling." Sorry, can't help you.

Thanks @mikapen . You haven't given any examples that are relevant to this thread.

Since it is coming from the dealer, I would have gotten a second opinion. We all know how their imagination works ($$$). Additionally, those figures would be much lower at a indy shop. Pretty straight forward job. I would have kept it going to 200k!

Dear Mr./Mrs. (we haven't met) @mikapen , you have not given a single model example that is germane to the discussion.

With the lack of inventory, and delayed production, car just might reach 200k by the time new one comes in. There’s still no production date, and if one is not generated soon, I might just cancel the whole thing and wait for 2022 models to start production. I did get a second opinion (from a highly recommended indy shop) and he said to not waste the money and to keep driving the car. But, this is the same shop who was surprised to learn that a MB needs a transmission service. He literally went online to check for this, so I definitely need a third opinion, I think? I don’t know, adulting is hard for an indecisive blonde. Send help!

Try for another opinion. 144k is really nothing, if properly maintained, many here will confirm that motor is very reliable for the long haul. If you want to spend the little money to keep it going, it is definitely worth it. But if you're tired of it, then by all means, it is time for a upgrade.

Hit 70k miles recently. All oils have recently been changed: engine, front axle, rear axle, transfer case and transmission. No new leaks, no cam sensor or cam magnet oil weeping.

Replaced rear brake pads and rotors, it was a straightforward job. I will probably do wipers in the fall as usual.

Next year will be a big maintenance year, only because of time + mileage aligning. Engine and cabin air filters, brake fluid change, engine oil change, front brakes (probably), tires, and spark plugs.

At 100k miles I want to change the coolant and poly-v drive belt. MB specifies coolant at 150k, and I think no maintenance for the poly-v belt. I will do it as preventive maintenance anyway.

What kind of rear pads and rotors did you buy and where?

Factory parts ordered from mbparts.mbusa.com - MB of Naperville, IL. Best price+delivery for me. My local yo-yo (dealer) was over 50% higher.

I posted the details in the GLE350 4MATIC Ownership Report in the GLE W166 section, including part numbers.

The pads and rotors are great. They are imperceptible/transparent, which is the goal in my view. Base brakes in the W166 V6 gas are uninspiring. Safe and reliable, but uninspiring.

140K miles on my 2012 Bluetec....just had the recall work done. The ONLY problem I've had was with the AC blower motor, but that was an easy DIY fix (posted here)

Other than that...it's actually a Guinness World Record holder for the longest-running engine (1million+ miles) without any major maintenance. That was THE reason I bought mine after all the engine troubles I've had with virtually every car I've ever owned.

85k miles now, running pretty well. No repairs needed at this time, thankfully. I check the engine for oil leaks every month or so and none found. I also pull the cam position sensor connectors to look for oil, none found.

When the weather gets warm next year I have quite a list of projects planned, because the vehicle will hit 100k miles:

Engine air filter
Spark plugs
Serpentine belt
Main battery
Aux battery
Oil+filter
Cabin filters
Brake fluid replacement
Front pads and rotors (probably, still running on factory front pads and rotors now)

What mileage has everyone attained so far?

@OnlyGerman That's the goal! I have run multiple vehicle past 200k miles so hoping the GLE will be another one for the list.

My 2014 ML350 4matic Gas has just shy of 125,000 on it. It's had only dealer maintenance its whole life. Still drives great!

Just had them flush the brake and transmission fluids (a HUGE improvement in driving feel!!) during the last oil change. I am thinking the next thing to tackle will be the shocks (which are expensive, even if I do it myself! :'()

She's got a little clicky/rattle sound under acceleration when she's first cranked in the morning (praying not a header crack or lifter tick). Though, this goes away just a few minutes of driving later.

Overall she still drives great (can hit three digits on the highway with ease), seats still heat/cool, navigation still works, super quiet interior (even at 100mph), and while being spacious inside (especially with fold-flat seats), it's still small enough I can park it anywhere.

The equivalent wooden-wheeled, cooled-seated, V6, 4matic GLE would cost me $80,000+... so I'm very very happy.

Joel

Thought I'd chime in here, just turned 100k on my 2015 ML350 with AMG Sport Pkg. Can is Black Black and I installed the PanAmera grill. It still looks like new. Did plugs at 60k, brakes, just did trans drain flush, same with rear end, front transaxel, and trasfer case. New filters etc. Just had one glitch yesterday where it misfired, check engine came on blinking, then went solid on. Pulled over, re-started it and it was fine. Was ok on my commute today as well. Hope it's nothing major. It's been a great car!

Turned out my problem was one bad ignition coil, replaced and all is good again.

101k miles now, everything is running well.

Still on the factory front brake pads and rotors.

Third set of tires and second set of rear pads and rotors.

Other service done:
- new main and aux batteries
- spark plugs done 1.5 times (need to finish the job on the driver’s side)
- new poly-v belt
- transmission service (needs it again)
- front and rear axle oil change
- transfer case oil change
- new ignition coils (preemptively, it improved smoothness)

No oil present from cam position sensors or cam magnets.

Has anyone achieved 150k miles yet?

I'm sure you've looked, but I have a tray liner that will shift every once in a while and prevent the tailgate from opening without being manually tugged. I slide it forward again and it's good to go until something causes it to slide back again.
