Llumar Ceramic Tint and Air80 Windshield
I had my wife's ML tinted by one the top tinters in the United States. He did the Llumar Ceramic CTX15 on the front windows and Air80 on the windshield. It looks absolutely amazing.

Looks great. Not sure I could get by with the windshield tint here in Steelinois
Did you get them to tint your sunroof too.

The windshield is Llumar Air80 and is actually very light. It looks really dark in the pictures. I asked him about the sunroof and he said since it is a white vehicle with light gray interior- it should be fine.

Looks absolutely stunning. I'd never get away with that crap up here, they'd have the truck up on a flatbed in seconds LOL.
I had the side windows of the Beemer tinted darker than legal, but it's down in the Cape where we use it 90-120 days a year. I would never have the ballz to go that dark ...

It's really not that dark. It looks mutch darker in the pictures. My wife drives this most of the time so it couldn't be ridiculously dark. It's 15% Ceramic on the light interior so if you open the sunroof shade, you can see the occupants which is the main concern with LEOs.

It's Llumar CTX15 so it's supposed to allow 15% light to pass through. The backs are the factory tint so I'm not sure what the percentage is but it's a very good match.

I wanted it lighter. I'm in Cali and I don't want to take a bigger chance on a ticket. I just needed a little bit of shade from the glaring sun.

After having browsed through multiple threads on tinting, I decided to speak w/ local dealer wrt tinting ( Llumar Air80) my GLE63S AMG. They said, factory tints rear windows @20. Fronts have basic 3% UV/IR protection - basically useless. Fronts can be tinted. Windshield tinting (a) voids factory warranty (b) causes scattering on night time driving (c) is unsafe in case of accidents because the glass is designed to crack a certain way - having a tint prevents the intended design.
Any truths to above?

(b) The Llumar AirBlu 80 is almost completely clear, is specifically designed for windshields, and does not "cause scattering on night time driving"
(c) Automotive glass is designed not to shatter and absolutely no one can determine how glass will crack.
(D) My dealership couldn't even tell my windshield had film on it.
