LED Rear Brake Lights?

'Check RR brake light' warning on primary view screen of my 2014 ML350 prompted me to clean the lamp socket and replace the brake lamp with conventional Sylvania 7506. (1156 seemed to be the right size also)
Was tempted to try Sylvania's LED equivalent but wondered if the 'loading' would be similar as to not trigger the warning.
Anyone tried LED replacement for conventional factory tungsten lamps in exterior lighting?

Aw geez, did you really have to?

I did this on my FJ cruiser and it sure lights up the back when reversing in the dark. My camera sees a lot better too.
Off to the wonderful world of internet to research which bulb is used out back and which LED will fit.

I installed these from ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Power-...ar=&hash=item0

Very bright, nice color, good light distribution. I immediately got the check light warning. The lamps are controlled by the front SAM. Using Vediamo, you can actually adjust the current threshold for the lamp warning, so if I remember correctly I set the threshold to 0.3 amp and have not had a problem since. They have been installed for almost 2 years now.

Thanks for posting.

I googled Vediamo, there's a ton of products out there. Which one do you recommend and do you have to be a 'puter geek to use it?

By ton of products out there I believe you are seeing the multitude of Chinese clone resellers. This would be clones of the multiplexer which you have to have. Vediamo is software used by Mercedes engineers. I have version 4.02.02 since I still have an old Part D (C3) multiplexer. You can use version 5 if you have the newer C4 multiplexer. Having a multiplexer will also allow you to use Xentry for diagnostics. There is a ton of info on *******.com if you want to research more. As far as your last question, probably yes, it would help!

This is interesting. I'm assuming that you use a clone multiplexer? From what I read, to have an OEM multiplexer from Mercedes, it's 20k+!

Yes, you are correct. I got it about 4 years ago and honestly I am surprised its still working. I got it for about $450 with a hard drive for a Dell D630. The drive was full of boot sector viruses. I ended up wiping the drive and learning how to set up the software myself. The process is painful, but worth it so now Xentry updates are easy.
