'12 bluetech oil cooler leak

'12 bluetech oil cooler leak
went to fix it, $1500 later found that oil cooler has an uneven shape, bent on one corner, seems like production defect. Not sure if I have resources to fight with MBUSA...

Just an advise - lease new cars, or buy an extended warranty...

I don't understand. You paid $1500 for a bent cooler? Where's it leaking?

oil cooler leak is well-known MB issue documented in TSB. To replace gasket there's cost associated, labor plus a long list of gaskets. In my case, after replacing cooler gasket we found that leak can be also initiated by defective oil cooler. Not sure if this fact can be used against MBUSA trying to recover cost of repair

Well, if the dealer replaced gaskets' stuff for $1500 just to realize that a cooler with a TSB is floating around, then hell yeah. I'd scream bloody murder....

What is your milage ? My 2012 BTC developed a leak @48500 miles...was fixed under warranty but fear of expensive issues led me to purchase a extended warranty...which is 2500 mikes from expiring.

108K km...Getting an extended warranty is a wise thing...
