Spare tyre (tire) space in the boot (trunk)
Hi I need a spare wheel in my boot as I had a flat the other day and realised there wasn't one and was stranded. I tried to put my old 17" spare wheel from my Mercedes E320 in the boot space but it wont fit so how am I going to get a 19" space saver in my ML350?

Sorry if I understood it wrong, but my car ML350 has spare tire. Not sure what is tour issue.

What size is that wheel? I tried a 17" spare and it didn't fit the space, I think my space has an extra tray which takes up extra room. in your picture it hasn't got that added tray. maybe I can remove it to make a wheel fit in there.

You can put even 16 as long as all wheels external diameters are the same.

I dont like the spray sealant you get these days as it wrecks a perfectly good tyre if you only need to repair it. The space under the boot floor is perfect to put a spare so why not use it. You didnt remove yours to save weight and increase mpg did you peter?

No, not for weight but rather the increased storage space. And I have CAA (equivalent of AAA and honoured anywhere in North America)
Back in 2006, I bought a Charger SRT8. I was shocked to find that it had no spare, but rather an air compressor with a built-in slime dispersal hose. That's when I stopped stressing about having a spare tire.
Ever since, I've always yanked the spares/jacks out of my vehicles to get more storage space. I keep a 12v booster/air-compressor pack in there along with basic tools/flares/emergency & regular blanket/tire plugs and associated tool as well as lighters gloves etc. Oh, and a 12 gauge mag-fed shotty LOL.
However, on my FJ Cruiser I love having a big-*** spare hanging off the back of the tailgate. More for the look than anything else.
