2015 ML 350 - good buy?

Hello, I'm on the market for a W166 and found a 2015 ML350, gas 2WD with 16k miles for sale for $35k. Carfax report indicates it was a lease. This seems like a pretty good deal for a 3 year old vehicle with very low mileage. Any thoughts? Are there common issues with this model year I should be on the look for?

CarGurus lists the 2015 ML350 RWD in the range of $26k - $35k, for vehicles with 14k-23k miles.

I think you can find a better price.

The 2015 model has the M276 3.5L V6 engine and 7G-Tronic transmission, both of which are used today in the GLE350. So there is a certain amount of history and lineage which is good from a repair and spare parts point of view.

After a quick scan through this site on the ML W166 section, I didn't see anything that stands out as a concern, except for Bluetec (diesel) related problems.

Do you research on this site and cargurus, and look for a better price.

MB’s of all kinds.
Do you need 4Matic? If you do then a 2WD ML will be a bad buy. If not and the car is a clean title and checks out then yes its a great buy! The gas ML's are pretty straight forward and are not known for issues. 2015 is also a last year model and that is always a huge plus.

Ok, Im going to ask a very stupid questions here:
Low mileage in most cases indicator of short trips, lover mileages lover shorter trips. If trips are short nothing gets to the normal operation temps: engine, trany .... in this case wear is very very high and must be addressed properly with oil changes every 2-3K tops and maybe with different oil viscosity. Not sure if person who leased the car will worry about and do the right things to the car.

Turbo also effected, this things need very clean oil and proper treatment, no rev engine till its warm but with short trips it newer gets warm enough.

So my stupid questions are: how big is the impact on engine and other moving parts with short trips and Should new buyer be concerned?

The impact is unknowable, in practical terms. I would not include this in a decision to buy a low mileage vehicle. Others may choose otherwise.

I agree with the man, Danny Boy!

I'd take low-mileage unknown usage over high-mileage confirmed highway-use myself. Turbo life is dependant, among other things, on whether or not the driver allows the turbo to spool down for at least 15-30 seconds before shutting the engine. I've yelled/screamed/shouted/threatened the wife many times to wait at least 15 seconds, but it seems that she would self-destruct if she had to do that. On both our X6 and the ML.
I've given up...

We bought a 2wd 2014 ML350 with 30k on the clock in Sept 2016. It was a CPO. In almost 2.5 years hardly any issues. The running boards (if it has them) have a finish that is less than durable. Some of things folks like are HID's vs halogens. Also the 360 camera is more useful than just a backup camera. I don't hear much difference between the Harmon Kardon in the ML and the stock unit in my '14 GL. If it was a lease, is the sale thru a dealer and if so, is it a CPO and if not, why not? Here's a 2wd '15 CPO for $28k. Lot's more miles, but the CPO coverage gives you more warranty time. No easy answer as so much is subjective. My wife loves her ML, so........

The stability of 4matic is great. I would not consider a RWD ML 350. My 4matic has gone on sand in Orange Beach and snow [4"] and straight up the awful one lane rutted dirt and gravel paths of the N. C. mountains. With proper tires, it handles everything I have put it through.

Each to his own. It adds $2,500 to the cost of the car plus 200 lbs of rotating machinery. We live in SE Texas. We will not deliberately be driving in snow, sand or mud.

LOL I’ve had to yell and scream at my wife to not put it in drive from a cold start until the high idle comes down. These women don’t listen. I threatened her with walking if it needs major engine work. That seemed to scare the begeezus into her.

Same thing here. Also the *****ing is merciless when it has to go in for service. Dad was right "If it ****s, floats, or flies, lease, don't buy."
