Help in identifying oil leak 2013 ML350 Bluetec

I just discovered an oil leak in the engine compartment of my 2013 ML350 Bluetec. I believe the source is near the top right as one looks at the engine compartment after opening the hood, but the lower front of the engine compartment just about the belly pan/skid plate has oil on what appears to be a thick bar. Don't know if that's the anti-roll bar or not, but wanted to post a couple pictures here and have the brain trust see they think. I'm wondering if I have the right possible point where it's leaking and what the remedy might be. Thanks.

The circled area in your first picture is the outlet of the intercooler of the resonator. That large pipe runs around to the front near the radiator which is the intercooler? The large black pipe is connected to a large plastic box, the other end of that large plastic box connects to a silver colored aluminum pipe that connects to the outlet side of the turbocharger. Is there any oil stains around the exterior of the oil filter? Is it possible it's leaking from the oil filter housing and dripping/draining down? Is that pipe in your first picture where the oil is leaking from? Depending on how clogged your 2 air filters are, it's possible that your turbo is sucking air heavily from your PCV system and that air is high in oil content, you potentially could be sucking oil from your crankcase in through you turbo and it's leaking at the joint between the pipe and the resonator.\

The black bar looks like the anti roll bar. If you post a wider view photo it will help confirm.

Thank you. Any idea what the repair would run?

BTW, yes, it is the anti-roll bar seen in that photo.

Costs could be anything since it is not clear where the leak is coming from. What I stated was there are several possibilities from: plugged engine air filter, AOS(Air Oil Separator), gasket between the large black pipe and resonator, oil dripping down from the oil filter. Honestly if you have some basic hand tools and the required Torx and e-sockets, you can probably tackle this yourself.

I had a slight oil leak from the AOS tube connecting to the Airbox, oil leak from airbox connecting to the turbo, oil leak silver pipe connecting to the Turbo outlet. The parts themselves were a few dollars each. And then the time spent were couple of hours.

If I was in your position, it would at least start by looking to see if the gasket between the resonator and pipe needs replacing since it looks like the oil is coming from there.

I just looked at the parts diagram and there does not appear to be a gasket between the pipe and the resonator: https://www.mbpartscenter.com/oem-pa...wtdjYtZGllc2Vs

So you may need to pull the resonator and pipe a part to see if there is oil collecting there when there should not be oil. But is there oil dripping down from the oil filter housing?

The parts diagram from online vendor doesn't give you all the parts. You need EPC to look at it. This is the one for my 2015 GL350BT. The gaskets are located inside the tube except for the 315 which goes into the throttle.

Hi,

I have a 2012 ML350 4matic

Following up on the above oil leak, as I have the same issue with mine. Did replacing the sealing rings stop the leak? Is there supposed to be oil passing by the noise damper to begin with?

Thanks. Appreciate the feedback

I have seen the noise resonator with slight saturation of oil before. One thing I have noticed is when I took the resonator out, although, I have not opened it I did notice the screws on it were loose. I gave then all a 1/2 to 3/4 turn to "tighten" them up (Be careful, it is plastic that you are tightening screws to). Have not seen any signs of oil since. As a previous post mentioned, there should not be oil in there or collecting. Double check around the area for any other sources of leaks.

Will also want to verify that you don't have any other sources of leaks such at the oil filter housing, vacuum pump cover, turbo inlet and intercooler o-rings. I've had to replace all of those over time to remedy any oil leaks that I have had.
