broken Sliding cover lid center console

Hi guys,
center console sliding lid covering cup holders broke a couple of months ago, after long search I was able to find one on Aliexpress for $45.
I thought this is straight forward project, but I was wrong. I could not figure out the steps to remove old one and place the new one in. I looked for instructions on YouTube and this forum but nothing about sliding lid.
I appreciate any feedback.

Take the whole center console out, then cupholder which bolts on underneath, then slide out old cover.

How many connectors are we suppose to disconnect? This might be my next option

NOTE: I am surprised that much has to be removed since the cover lid on the W212 does not require that much removal
