Ml 250 W166 - Loose Green Wire - Help Identify ?
Hi Sorry the wire is actually green / black and comes off the main loom in the compartment , please see photo, appreciate your help to identify. Could this be related to a speed sensor as gears are slow to change or Eco start stop which is not working. ??
Hi , I'd appreciate anyones help, I have been having some issues with ECO stop start not working and automatic gear not upshifting smoothly , labouring in gears, probably separate issues.. I have replaced the auxilliary battery as a 1st measure, but when I opened the compartment there is a green / white wire which is laying loose, I do not know where it should be pluuged into as it looks as though the crimp has came loose or pulled out from somewhere. I think this may be a Canbus wire , so that may explain the transmission problem if it is related to the speed sensor. Appreciate please can anyne check and see in the auxilliary battery compartment in the boot and see whre this green/ white wire is supposed to connect.

Looks like a modification, or attempted modification. Do you know anything about the history of your vehicle? Is this under a front seat? Follow or trace it as far as you can to see if you find what it is connected to.
You can also download WIS/EPC/ASRA from ebay for $15-$20 and it has the wiring diagrams to dig through.

Many thanks, yes it is actually coming out of the main loom in the rear boot compartment for the Aux battery , I did have a trailer hitch installed , so maybe its a remnant from that installation and / or the wire has detached from its connector. I have had the system reset and the fault code cleared that was affecting the transmission, so it wasn't this wire, the Eco start stop still isn't working so it may be related to that.

Yes Thanks, thats the first thing I looked at , tested all the trailer lights and everything is working, the trailer hitch module may have used this green wire or other tapping from the loom for the Canbus and they possibly cut this wire, that is a possibility or then it should be connected somewhere and has came off from its attachment as there is a bare end , I still have the issue with ECO stop start not working which makes me suspicious since I found this wire, so it could be the signal or power for the stop start as the ECO start power comes from the Aux battery. Please see this video on changing an Aux battery , At 1min 27 in this Youtube video you can see an MLwith the same wire, it lookes as though it runs up and attaches on to a blue crimp,, but my car has no such crimp. It definately appears that this is the same wire though, again it could be for a trailer hitch module, maybe someone who has the trailer hitch or can see a green wire can advise where this green wire connects.
