Do I need to fix the dent and paint?

When I reversed the car, the fender of the car scratched against the iron pillar. I found that the fender is slightly dented and the paint is damaged(about 5 cm). Do I need to repair it quickly to prevent corrosion? How much is estimated?

It’s your choice. If the damage does not cause functional problems, in theory you can choose to not repair it, ever.

Approx $1500 to respray one panel, depends on the shop and the location (city).

Thank you very much.
It's really expensive...
No any functional problem. I just want to fix it myself. I have got the same color paint. However, I am wondering whether it lead to metal corrosion.

I found a used one which is no any scratch and the same color. Maybe I can change it. Much cheaper than respray.

Is Zinc layer compromised?

Rust should only be an issue if the scratch goes down to base metal past the zinc coating. If you are in dry climate and there is no ocean salt air, and they dont heavily salt the roads, should be fine (so long as base metal isnt showing). You could just touchup paint if base metal is exposed to seal against rust.

There is black color turned out at the scratch/dent place (diameter about 0.8cm). I checked the left front fender was made with aluminum. Maybe I don’t need worry about the corrosion so much.

If you have these questions I'd say its best left to the pros or left alone.

Have a person who does pointless dent removal pull the dent out and then use rubbing compound and if needed get a paint touch up kit from dealer Should cost about 200 dollars. I have done this with numerous cars. No need to have the whole fender repainted or just leave it.

Thanks a lot for your nice suggestion. I am trying to do it myself.
