2013 Mercedes Benz ML350 4Matic low coolant message comes up on dash, reservoir full?

We have a 2013 Mercedes Benz ML350 4Matic. Since we purchased the vehicle 4 years ago we get a "LOW COOLANT ALERT MESSAGE" on our dash only when it's cold. I checked the antifreeze reservoir and the level of antifreeze is almost to the top so I'm going to take a wild guess that the level is not low. I checked the vehicle for antifreeze leaks everywhere and there are no leaks. I don't know if antifreeze is the entering the engine, I certainly hope not.
2 Questions:
Has anyone replaced the low coolant sensor on the reservoir? If so, how difficult is it? price on the sensor?
Has anyone experienced loosing antifreeze into the engine? If so, what are the signs of this happening?
Appreciate your help, thx!
Anthony

Mine does this all the time when I park on my driveway with the nose of the GL pointing down. Only happens on my somewhat steep driveway.

The level sensor is very sensitive. I believe it looks almost full even when the error message pops up.

Parked on a flat surface and it's completely full.

About once a year I top it off with a very tiny amount if the message seems to be coming on more than usual. Then a few months later it starts again.

Just add a tiny bit to make sure it's completely full, and start to watch if it's happening only when parked facing downhill.

I refill my 2014 ML 350 Bluetec every year. I have not been able to spot or find if there is any leak in the cooling system, nor has the leak if there is one gotten any worse.

search around on the forum because i recall a detailed post about the same issue and a fix or work around. i think it turned out to be a coolant level sensor issue, and the only way to properly fix it was to replace the whole coolant tank (i think the sensor is built in).

I've had the same issue for the last 3 winters and the fix is as stated by Etienne. Even though mine never seems too low, I add 2-4 ounces and everything's ok

if something is actually wrong then maybe my suggestion may help.
as others have mentioned, topping up the coolant is not uncommon, i also had to do it recently because of the warning (also only on cold mornings). once topped up i never saw the warning again.
my coolant tank did not look empty, it was maybe 3/4 full. What you consider full or almost to the top may not actually be full enough for the sensor.

Look inside the coolant tank, you should see a plastic bar in there, the coolant level should be to the top of the bar.

Sure the coolant level is fine and at the top of the plastic fin or plastic bar as you called it. But the car keeps loosing fluid and overheating even when the fluid is topped off.
BUT the fluid is now black (but full) when you look inside the reservoir tank. ?????

Coolant does not disappear.

Either is leaking out, burned because a blown head gasket, mixing with the engine oil because an oil cooler gasket, or with transmission if they shared the radiator.

Black color hints towards head gasket. Time to pressurize the cooling system and see if holds pressure. If it does not, find the leak
