Windshield broke adjusting the mirror
I kid you not. Our rearview has always been very stiff. It takes two hands for my wife to adjust. Yesterday she did this and broke the windshield! This is on a 2014 ML350 with the original windshield. No one I talked to, the insurance or the glass replacement had ever heard of that happening before.

My windshield just revealed a crack from the top down about 6 inches. I am here in Florida so considering my options. I have a 2016 CLS 550 4matic. Did you go to a 3rd party like Apple Autoglass? I would prefer not going to Mercedes if I can get it done properly and all systems run as intended. Can you update your experience.

They installed a Pilkington windshield, so that may help. It was Sprint Auto Glass here, I have used them in the past on a Toyota Highlander (with the ice melter) and did a great job when I got hit by stones, twice. Price for Pilkington was $500 vs $1250 for OEM even at Sprint. Sprint would have to get the OEM glass but would have taken them a couple of days.

2014 ML550 AMG package
My rear view mirror is also very stiff. I’ve heard that something as simple as adjusting the night vision camera in the housing behind the mirror can break the windshield. That’s crazy that it’s that fragile. I’m never touching my mirror again haha
