No ignition coils??

No ignition coils??

Hi,
I have a 2012 ML350 (gasoline). My number 2 cylinder ignition coil has stopped working. My dealer has none and says "they're back-ordered". In fact everywhere I called yesterday said the same thing. Does anyone have a suggestion for where I could try?? I would appreciate the help as the car is just a huge paper weight without it.

Hi Pcy, Autohaus doesn't have any and I had never heard of RMeuropean. Since I posted, I found a place in Fort Lauderdale and they are shipping me one overnight. Thanks for your help.

I did try FCP Euro. They're back-ordered as well. Anyway I got one from a place in Fort Lauderdale. Now my problem is that I followed the instructions in the pdf of a red car that is in may place on this site but the homemade "puller" that is used was too much for mine. The head of the old coil broke off and now I'm trying to get the remainder out. Can anyone tell me do the plug holes go in parallel to the ground or are they vertical? What I mean is, should I pull "out" from the engine towards the side of the car or should I pull straight up. I can't believe that Mercedes produced such a horrible design as this.

I would try hose grip pliers such as the one at Harbor Freight

Thanks PCY. In fact HF sells a set of three different sizes for $14.99. Anyway I used one of them and got the bulk of the coil boot to come out/off. Now I have some kind of rubber piece stuck on the plug. I have tried all kinds of pliers but no joy so far except for a few bits that tore off. I don't want to tear all the accessible parts off because then I would be royally screwed? Does anyone have any suggestions??

The boot is stuck to the spark plug because of dried assembly grease. A small pick may help to break the dried grease and allow boot removal. Or you might need to destroy the offending boot and replace it.

Do you have 100% of the required parts for this job in hand now?

Yes, I do have all the parts for the job. All I need to do is get the remains of the old boot off the spark plug and blow the recess out.

Hi All,

I wanted to say a big "THANK YOU" to all the people that responded to my pleas for help. In the end I was able to push a 14 mm socket down over the remains of the boot and take the plug out. Once out I had to use a razor blade to cut the remains off the boot and pull it off the plug. It was extremely stuck to the plug. I would never have been able to pull it off while the plug was installed.

So, thanks again to all of you.
