How much for the 80k miles maintenance?

My 2014 Ml350 is about 79300 miles now. I am wondering whether I should send it to Mercedes dealer shop for the 80k maintenance or not. Can anybody tell the cost? What the advanced properties compare the small shop to perform the maintenance?

Thank you.

Generally it's oil change and cabin filter change. Could be $400-$500 or so in this day of extra high dealer ripoffs. An indy can do this for a couple of hundred $.

Depending on age and when it was last done, brake fluid replacement might be due.

Have the following been done?

spark plugs
transmission oil replacement
engine air filter

If not, those also are needed by 80k miles.

Thank you so much.
I can perform the engine oil, cabin filter and engine air filter change. The dealer changed the transmission oil last August. So I am wondering whether it necessary to do the maintenance in the Mercedes dealer shop.

Don't dismiss the spark plugs as a maintenance item unless you don't plan to keep the car for long. Rumor has it they get more difficult to remove over time.

Thanks a lot for your kind suggestion.
I watched the video for the spark plugs replacement and find it's not so easy.

But it was due at 60K, by 80K you are past due and you do not want them to seize in the block. Which video did you watch? The one for W212, or specific for W166 ?

I did mine on the W212 (same engine 276) and could do it w/o removing the intake plenum. I will be doing sisters W166 in two weeks, and I hope it will be about the same. Of course, the plug next to the firewall opposite the air filter is the trickiest one . I use a socket with a swivel extension (similar to https://www.autozone.com/test-scan-a...ion/454330_0_0) to avoid the socket to stay trapped just in case. NOTE: you want a short swivel extension of the plug near the firewall, there is not much room for a long extension.

Thanks. I think the spark plugs had been changed around 60k miles. So, I don't need to replace them.

Actually. my car was serviced at 77000 miles. The services include the following things:
Safety inspection performed

Oil and filter changed
Tire(s) balanced/Tires rotated
Drivability performance checked
Brake fluid flushed/changed
Front wiper blades/refills replaced
Anti-theft/keyless remote battery replaced
Emissions inspection performed
Therefore, I think I only need to change the oil and filters.

You can do almost all of this yourself at about a 75% savings. Most parts and fluids can be obtained at FCP Euro or AZAutohauz, or local Advance Auto. (this is for ML550 W166 that Ive recently done at 60k).
-Spark plugs (dealer for V8)
-Brake fluid flush
-coolant flush
-tranny fluid drain/replace and filter...include torque converter...dealer doesnt usually do that part!
-front and rear differential oil change
-transfer case oil change
-engine air filters (2 for V8)
-cabin air filters (3)
-Main and Aux battery change (can last up to 8 or 10 years)
-check brakes...rears wear quickly...mine only last 20k miles.
-oil and filter change.
-check serpentine belt
-alignment (dealer. I have tried numerous different shops, even a Mercedes specialty place, and nobody can do alignment except for dealer for my setup for some reason...Airmatic, 4matic, offroad).
-Id also check OBDII for codes...including ones that dont trip light. I just use a cheap FIXD plugin that bluetooths to phone app to retrieve codes.
-airmatic air intake filter change right front behind bumper.
-check all CV boots for cracking
-check spare tire air pressure

Another question:
Which one is better for the motor oil, Mobile 1 0w40 or 5w40? Some guys said 5w40 is better than 0w40 for high mileage engine.

If it was my car, I'd stick to Mobil1 0W-40.

and reduce the interval for oil changes. Recommended 10K miles, but others in the forum are advising to reduce it to 5K. These engine M276/M278 are showing signs of wear on the camshaft adjusters, and you do NOT want that to happen to your ride, $$$.

I use Mobile1 0w-40 exclusively.

80K miles is not a high mileage engine these days. Perhaps back in the 70's.

These engines are showing signs of camshaft adjusters wear, a thicker oil at cold temperatures is not going to help at startup. It may help when warm "if" it takes longer to come down before the next startup. The check valve added after certain serial number should have taken care of the "thin oil".
