Hi, checking on this as the car has ~ 125K miles on it and is starting to hobby horse a bit - thinking of doing the shocks but hearing this car has air suspension - didn't think it did.

BTW, bought it new and it's running strong

 

Peek at the suspension and see if there are air bags or shocks?

thanks. That vin lookup is handy. I’ve looked at the suspensions bunch of times since purchased and never seen bags - just shocks but I wanted to be sure I wasn’t missing anything.

 

Airbags replace springs, not shocks/struts. Look to see of you have steel springs or not. Airbags are black, and usually have a control knob in center dash between front seats. Airmatic suspension still has struts/shocks.

Airmatic front has it built into the strut, the rear has bag...the big black thing. Pix below. Your pic is definitely steel spring, no air.

100% coilovers. I have them on my ML350. I didn’t want the aromatic even though it 100% rides a little better.
