Can anyone here look up dealer service records with VIN?

I don't want to bother my SA, but I did run the VIN by him before I bought the vehicly with 85,000+ miles. At that time he said that all the service A/Bs had been done, including the 90,000 service. Now, at a little over 86K I'm getting a Service A alert. I'd love to get the details on what has been done and when, if possible.

They have something call the VIM ( cant remember what it means) It shows all the work performed by Mercedes dealers anywhere on the car.
Some dealers will tell you they cant give it too you but I was able to get my Service advisor to run me a copy off when I was protesting a errant Car Fax report.

As I reread you post, I think a CARFAX report would answer your questions. It shows when each service was accomplished and the miles it was serviced.

You can goggle car fax and pay for a report.

The time to ask for that report is at the dealer before writing a check. It seems that there are a lot of SAs who won't divulge that info in writing (something about previous owner privacy BS), but when I picked up my ML from the dealer I had the salesman make sure to include ALL the service records they had. It was a one owner car before me and I had no problem getting everything from day one, and didn't see any private info on the sheet. Not sure they'd give it to you now given that you have no leverage anymore, but it can't hurt to ask the SA.

You really need the VMI. My CPO 2014 GL450 had the rear main seal replaced. Before I completed the sale, I had the salesman put the car on a lift so I could see if it was still leaking or any other evidence of a problem. There was none so I went ahead with the sale. On my recently purchased CPO 2017 GLS550 I also got the VMI before I completed the deal. I saw that all kinds of work was done, including a new battery, rear brake pads, transmission and diff service, and a bunch of other things. No guarantee of future performance, but nice to see nonetheless.

The CGW has all of the regular maintenance. Carfax has non-regular maintenance.

Do what you will.

so my salesman says he can't give me the VMI (Vehicle Master Inquiry) because the service was done at other dealerships. He gave me the dealer codes (from the VMI he's looking at!), 45105 and 30104, but says he has "no way of identifying what dealerships they are". A quick Google search tells me they're Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City (MO) and Aristocrat Mercedes in Kansas, respectively. MBKC says "The VMI is for internal Mercedes Benz employee use only" and Aristocrat left me a voicemail simply stating that "all services were performed". Is there no one on the MBWorld forums that can print and send all the details?

Of course any service done by another company or by the owner will not show anywhere so the service from MB dealer is only part of the answer.

Well, first of all it's the "part" I want; second, the CarFax indicated that every service was done at a dealership. As others have (more helpfully) commented, the best time to have requested it was before I agreed to buy it, when I'm guessing they might have found a way around their reticence to share internal documents. I was satisfied at the time just to know that it was dealer serviced every year or 10,000 miles and that it had already had a 90,000 mile service at something less than 86,000 miles. Now that I'm getting a Service A due alert with only slightly more than 86,000 miles I'd like to know specifically what was done and when. Make sense?

I was at the dealership 2 days ago getting another key made and I asked the Service Adviser for a VMI print out. He told me he couldn't give me a print out. He did however tell me what was recorded on the VMI. As others have said it only records what was done at MB Dealerships. It appears the reasons for no print out vary from dealership and SA. If you have no leverage like a vehicle purchase I think your out of luck for the most part.

Well, I got the VMI from a friend of mine over the the weekend and it's a lot less detailed than I had hoped. For example, at 81,193 miles Aristocrat Motors did an 80,000 mile service, but other than the oil change and brake fluid flush there are 24 lines of "opcode not on report" that I'm curious about. At 74,856 miles it got a new battery and 12 more lines of "opcode not on report". At 64,147 brake fluid again and another 22 lines of "opcode not on report". 58,206 got spark plugs and air filter, as I had hoped and assumed, plus 14 lines of lines of "opcode not on report". 47,986 brake fluid, 22 lines of "opcode not on report", plus an inexplicable "NO WORK DONE". "General Repairs - CCC" and new tires at 19,961 at MBKC but the obviously new tires on it now aren't mentioned among the pre-sale prep Husker did just this past September.

Really my biggest takeaway is that the annual service visits generally took place after the mileage milestones, not before as I had believed, and the last oil change was about a year ago/6000 miles ago. The only dust filter on the report is at 10,445 miles, but it's hard to believe it hasn't been changed again since. If anyone can get anything else out of the report I'd love to hear it!

Here's what I get out of the report: Change all your fluids and filters now.
Repeat on a regular basis throughout your ownership.
Drive happy.

, and if possible reduce the oil change interval to 5000 miles instead. Those M276 do not like dirty oil that much. Just to protect the camshaft adjusters, and monitor the oil leakage through camshaft solenoids and sensors
