Mercedes Benz ML250 Bluetec 2012 Electric Tailgate Retrofit
Hi Guys,
I am the owner of ML250 2012 which purchased three months ago and residing in Nairobi,Kenya. I am trying to retrofit the tailgate from manual to electric system and bought the accessories dampers, closing actuator, module, closing button and wiring harness loom from Ebay. However the wiring harness loom is wrong and needed some assistance if someone can guide/point me to the right wiring harness loom required for perfect retrofit for electric tailgate, what is the part number for existing wiring harness loom for electric tailgate? I would appreciate any assistance from the group, thanks.

Every w166 came with an electric tailgate. It was standard equipment. .

Hi, it is not w164 but w166 which came with manual tailgate and not electric. VIN WDC1660042A069424 for your confirmation...

it depends on the region the car was made. W166’s in NA for the most part had electric tailgates. But you’ll have the odd one out sometimes that didn’t even get premium package.

Hi, had to buy below items online before could proceed
  1. Rear door spindle part no A1668900000
  2. Rear left side gas strut part no A1669803464
  3. Rear door panel door drive system A2047500060
  4. Rear door end right sensor strip part no A1668701501
  5. Rear door end left sensor strip part no A1668700951
  6. Rear end door control unit A1669006405
  7. Rear end door wiring harness part no A166540671
  8. ELECTRICAL WIRING HARNESS (Auto Open/Close Rear Door) part no A1665406710
  9. Mercedes Benz ML350 W166 2013 Tailgate Open Control Switch A1668707610
Additional wiring required which was done by electrician and thereafter coding for opening & closing of the tailgate.
