13 ML350 POWER STEERING DEAD HELP!!!
Got 13 ML350 from an auction, looks like it was hit in a front left wheel that rim got a big crack on the inside flat part that was touching a caliper a little.
Come to find out steering not working. i scanned it for codes got P063600, P06354, U041500,U042900. In addition to that i got P0300,
Looks like right side of alightment a little ii would say an inch toe out. no sign of any damage of speed sensor or wires.
I know its a electric steering now days. any idea what should i look for? help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

On the U code, they are CAN communication codes, in particular, related to the SCM (Steering control module).
I guess you already check ALL fuses, in particular,

Hope the above helps to start.

Yes, i noticed that these codes are together misfire and steering codes. I did check all the fuses front, dash and rear under the seat they all seem to be good.
but as usual in the boxes there is no booklets with fuse diagrams. sometimes at the action fuses get pulled out, so one might be missing or something.
i will check tomorrow the ones that u mentioned.
Sometimes next week i will inspect all the plugs on rack and if i can see any damage.
From little search i did on MB new steering, looks like people have lots of problems with them.
Thank you for your help, ill update when i look in to it more.

The left front wheel is cracked, you estimate the right side is showing toe out by 1". Is there a possibility that the steering rack is internally damaged by what appears to be accident damage?

Yes, i am ready for that but still having hope that it can be some kind of sensor that is damaged or inner outer tierods damaged.
still didnt get a chance to get it in to the garage and inspect everything real good, been busy at work.
If i have to replace the whole rack, does it have to be programmed/adapted? or plug and play?

Today finally picked up a car, went under the car did some visual inspection. Do not see any external damage to the steering rack. Unplugged the wire harness checked for continuity positive, ground and the 2 wire plug from rack to the point where it attached on the box the positive lead where you jump the car. All good no problem there.
Found the reason why left wheel toe out about an inch out. Its the lower arm control shifted from the hit in the wheel. Will put it in place tomorrow, that should get wheels in place how they supposed to be. inner and outer tie-rods look ok to me no freeplay or anything bent or damaged.
Forgot to mention that my front bumper is off the car, insurance took it off to look for damage. and i noticed that it has a big sensor hiding inside of a smaller grill on the right side. Would that have anything to do with steering?

EASY WAY FWD: Unplug the bumper side harness that connects to these radar modules.
Does that stop troubles?
