When in the car and the radio OFF I can here my muffler delete loudest at 1500 -2000 rpm, at higher rpm I barely notice it, maybe because of the other noises at higher speeds, wind, road, tire ?
With radio ON I barely notice it at all times, but my wife did notice a change and likes a perfectly silent car better.
I'll also say its a bit more fun to drive now that I can hear what the motor is doing.
Where are you in So Ca, if close to me your welcome to hear it.

It's the best thing I've done to the car, besides the ECU tune.
I cannot stop driving it....
And to all waiting on the video of my exhaust mod............ I am posting that video today....sorry for the wait.
My 1 year old and 8 month preggo wife take away from my play time.....

I am looking to add an electric remote cut out to my S600 which already has an ECU and TCU tune. My dad mostly drives the car, so I want to keep it nice and quiet for him most of the time. I know there is a portion of the exhaust that merges into one pipe. I'm thinking this would be the easiest place to put the cutout.
QTP now makes a remote driven cut out that would be perfect for the drag strip:

Any idea what the diameter of the "single exhaust" section is and whether there is any room for installing a cut out?

I will measure the pipe I have in my garage and get back to you.
Additionally, I removed that merged, center section. There was not enough room to put the cutouts in that location. They should go directly after that tight area. Go back to post #23 and look and the 2nd photo. In that photo you will see two cans located before the mufflers. Those are resonators. You will need to remove those and install the cutouts in that location. Also needed are bolt on, down-turned flanges so your hot exhaust gases aren't being pushed onto your suspension parts. That's exactly what I did. The car is still extremely quiet when the cutouts are closed even without the resonators. I also removed the single section of pipe and ran dual pipes. Go here for a photo of my exhaust - https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...t-cutouts.html
I also wouldn't use QTP. My personal opinion is that they fail prematurely and their customer service is less than helpful to resolve craftmanship problems.
DMH cutouts are made of better material and are warrantied for years short of smashing them between the undercarriage and the ground. http://www.dmhperformance.com/
