How hot does your ignition transformer get?

How hot does your ignition transformer get?
Talking about the square one in the middle, ignition transformer.
How hot does yours get?

Weird how even swapping a new one in, still quite hot and seems to take forever for it to cool down with the hood open, since it's close the V of the engine..absorbing heat..

Want to isolate it near the bolts and add a heat shrink but I'm not sure if a heat shrink with a small fan will be ok.

Everything in that area gets fairly hot which i think is more due to the engine heat than the transformer making itself hot. I can shoot my temp gun at it and see actual temps if needed. What would a cooler running transformer accomplish?

Yah, I wanted to get a consensus what the temps are on average, from a few folks with temp guns.

It's radiating heat.. I don't think it's picking it all up from the engine.

I put the CF hood and the metal hood piece back on, and I noticed that the cf mold has indentations to guide some air to the general area where the ignition transformer sits..
Some cooling possibly.

Who's the genius that designed the transformer module right on top of the engine...
Why didnt they screw it on the firewall or shock tower...so many places.
I would imagine heat does it no good over a long period of time. The cooler it runs the longer the longevity, its only common sense.

I have just finished my cooling mod to my ignition transformer. I have added cooling fins with 3M thermal tape. The temp drops without the use of electric fans or pumps. It works passively by radiating the heat away from the hot transformer. It is much cooler than before, and now you can touch it without getting burned. The main goal is to make it last longer without heat related issues. Simple mod with a simple solution.

can you give us info on the cooling fins and 3m tape. part #'s prices, where to get them. also, how does this stop the engine heat from effecting the module?
thanks

The cooling fins are less than 1/2" tall. I'm sure the cover will fit. The cover traps a lot of hot air underneath.
I am using speedriven intercoolers and 4 cone filters, no room for an engine cover.
