Wow, really? For water I see 185 F max, and 175 F when I'm dawdling around town.

That's only from the guage though.

EDIT: Correction - its the other way round - 185 going slowly and 175 at speed

Nick

Does it make any difference what the ambient temperature is, or your speed?

If not, it must be down to what the thermostat is doing.

I've been wondering about the thermostat on mine. I presume its ECU-controlled, as the temp goes up and down according to my driving.

Please show me how

Hi all,
I am new here.I basically go straight to W220's area and never know this part exists on the forum. Anyway I 'll love to take some temperature reading of my car and report back but don't know how, could someone please show me how without using some fancy/sophisticate equipment? Thanks.

Mike

you can use a OBD2 scanner with the CAN bus live data feature to view the engine parameters.

OK i forgot to mention the above mentioned temps are 90F ambient weather. When ambient temp is 55F the oil and water are in the 185 to 190 range

That is pretty close to what i see as well, slightly less for the most part. My oil temp light does not even stop blinking until it reaches ~180F.

Thank you Shardul, I'll dig my cheap Bluetooth OBD2 out and hook that up to my phone to get a quick reading.
