Tq Curve Question
stock
my tq converter is shot so I'm having southern hotrod send it off to protorque for a rebuild. I'm going to put a stall on it, too. since the converter is shot I won't get a good dyno pull so i can't go that route. what is the peak tq curve? what is the tq at 2800? recommendations?
As far as the tq curve, I woud say it peaks at 738 ft-lbs at 3000 RPM which is why you probably don't want to increase the stall speed of your converter.
Normally, when you have your car dyno. You want the tq converter to be locked 1:1 in order to get the best results.

just saw a dyno chart that showed at 3k its only about 60%. 3200 is what I'm going with. when you dyno you're typically in 3rd. a stall doesn't change anything.
According to the manufacturer spec, they claimed that the tq peaks at 3000 rpm. May be they fudge the numbers? Care to share with us your dyno chart that only shows 60% at 3000 rpm? So at what rpm it's showing max tq?
When I said 1:1 during dyno, I was refering to the tq converter being locked not allowing it to slip. I did NOT mentioned anything about the trans gearing.
Let us know how you make out with the 3200 stall speed. Are you planning to spend a lot of times at the drags strip?
m275 dyno. its staying in 1st because its in limp mode, not because it can't go in gear. after restart it changes gear again. I've worked on at's enough to tell what it is. the issue is if any damage was done to the tranny, but won't know until its dropped. as for the dyno, 3 kish is where the run starts so having a stall there is no issue. the wheels still below that. I track it and street it on occasion.
