Injector info

Trying to upgrade my injectors so I can run E85. Does anyone know where I can get the specs of the current injectors so I can spec out new one. Mainly just looking for heights and O ring diameter stuff. I assume they are high impedance.

EDIT: just saw that you've got a 65. I don't know what the injector sizing difference is, I suggest you have one of yours flow-tested to see what the appropriate E85 size upgrade would be. 30% is a good middle of the road number. More like 35% if you're only ever going to be running summer blend.

Sorry I missed this post. I converted my 04 S600 to E85 earlier this year. I static flowed stock injectors at around 340cc/min @ 3 bar so I went with 450cc injectors for E85. That's a good correction factor for a balance between winter blend and summer blend so it shouldn't be too far out any time of the year. They worked great, the car pulled harder than ever, but I have since started having WOT coil issues again so I can't report on whether or not E85 will support my race gas tune.

I am running these injectors: https://www.fiveomotorsport.com/blac...es-standard-x8 That's the proper configuration for our cars. You will want the wired adapters, as the wireless ones, while fairly low profile, are rigid and do interfere with the intercoolers, etc.

If you want to confirm everything and make sure that's the best product for you, email kirk@fiveomotorsport.com and tell him I sent you.

Sweet! That is good info. Have you had any problem with fuel pump keeping up? So you had to have an adapter harness?

I have not actually flow-tested the pump, but I did get a fuel pressure gauge on the rail and it's maintaining pressure. You should definitely be fine since the 65 has a bigger pump but tuned vs tuned the power difference isn't that big.

The adapters come just a short pigtail with the appropriate connector on each end. These are the ones you need, however they are included with the injectors from most suppliers.

They also come with adapters for the injector neck, which is actually a short spacer. You could definitely get injectors in the same exact configuration as the stock ones and not need adapters at all, but it's an older design. Most of the injector suppliers are going to this new bosch injector as their core unit and just selling or including the adapter parts to make it work. Supposedly there are several improvements to the design.

Yeah I have a fuel pressure gauge installed also. I'm going to try to find some injectors that don't need the adapter. Do you have any idea what your fuel trims are at with that setup? We should really keep in touch. You sound like a diy guy like myself.

Very much so...I'll generally build something myself if possible even if it doesn't save any money, lol. But on injectors I've learned it's best to just spend the money once on quality parts, particularly when dealing with alcohol fuels. I would still recommend you talking to kirk, he might be able to point you in the direction of some exact-fit ones and will also be able to make sure that what you end up with is alcohol rated. They sell all kinds, but I specifically wanted their black-ops line which is flow-matched to tighter tolerances and rated for operation even on methanol.

I would be very curious to see what the stock flow rate is on the 65 injectors vs my 600s. I came out at about 7% on my long-term cruise trims, but it's unclear whether that's positive or negative, my scanner reads wacky on that stuff sometimes. I *hope* it is positive, as I sized mine intending to be in-between the optimal for summer and winter blend E85 so I should be running slightly lean in the summer and slightly rich in the winter (which will help even further with cold-start). I didn't have this particular scanner/logger before I did the conversion so I can't really compare to what it was initially.
