The Exelero was designed by a coordinated team of four students (Wolf Seebers, Andreas Hellmann, Stefan Barth, and Fredrik Burchhardt) from the Transport Design department of the Pforzheim Polytechnic college, under the tutelage of the Design Department of DaimlerChrysler AG.
They each designed a concept model off of the original 1938-9 Maybach Fulda Streamlined car which was designed by Freiherr Reinhard Koenig Fachsenfeld off of the original Maybach SW 38.
Burchhardt's Chevy Corvette-like design got the nod; but they decided to incorporate aspects of each of the other three students' designs into the final concept model.
Jürgen Weissinger, the project engineer and Manager of Development at Maybach, together with his team, then took the final concept design model from the students and adapted it into a sports coupe based on the Maybach 57 chassis.
So if you can see any bit of another current MBZ model in the Exelero's design, you've got a better eye than me....

Maybach Concept car
I saw it at the Benz Classic Museum opening in Irvine 2 weeks ago.
My opinion is it looks like the Green Hornet Limo for the 21st century.
Has a full racing harness in the seats. Looks kinda freeky.
It has a certain style that is cool. Love to take it for a test drive.
