Ouch! -$500 A Day!
"At a depreciation rate of $500 per day, the Maybach 62S decreases in value by an astonishing $182,500 during its first year on the road"
Holy ***** Batman! You drop nearly $500k on a car only to have it drop almost $200k in value over a years period. That car is in the rare category only for the fact that there aren't very many built and yet it loses that much. Guess if you can afford to buy it you can afford to take a price hit on it as well.
Wonder if the drop has anything to do with the inside reusing old S w220 parts? They really needed to update the interior bits for a car in that price range.
But hows this for a choice...your in the market for a new S class and you could pick up a used low mileage Maybach for the same money..what do you do lol.
Talked to one of the reps a few years back at Amelia Island show, and he was open to letting you play with them.
Ended up with a few of there hats, and a few drinks.
Nice bunch to talk with, but of course the rep was from NJ.

Every MB I have had sicne 2007 (5 now) has basically been flawless except for a stupid leaking plug in the back of the M272 motor (very common and know issue) and wear items like bushings. Bushing wear out as rubber just degrades with time and use. I cant complain there.
So get a new MB and enjoy it. But the days of everyone spending their lives in the service drive are over. My S63 has had not one trip to the dealership other than for two oil changes in 14k miles.

I will say one thing about the Maybach, its much more impressive in person. No one really knows how big of a car it is till you see it in front of you, pictures don't do it justice. Then you can get the 65 and have even more room, those are more along the lines of a shortened limo. But for the money we are talking about in this thread, a 65 would still be out of reach.
As for the depreciation... come on, they are making it so rap stars can afford their own now so they can quit borrowing them for videos...

First off, it smokes...hands down... any RR or Bentley, I could care less what electronics platform it is on or the so called aging interior. You can only build an interior so luxurious to the point it will look hideous if one more thing was added to it. I have been in pretty much everything, from caddy to Maybach 62's there is nothing that does not compare... hands down.
Second, and what really is the issue with Maybach is that they have yet to step up and control the value of the vehicle. It is not exclusive nor the idea of it being exclusive when it is losing 1/2 of its value over 2 years. I feel bad for those Maybach dealers that have to spend the money for the Maybach studio. The concept is awesome, however it is mismanaged on scale that will ruin the Maybach line further, if not totally kill it. Same with AMG vehicles, very sad!
The water-cooled alternator comes in at a whopping $16,500!
