Australian Maybach owner dies.

Sincerely hope not Mr. maybach on this forum (not likely since he has one maybach).

"Mercedes-Benz took the occasion (Sydney International Motorshow) to laud its grand limousine, the megadollar ($1.1m for 62) Maybach and its sales success: three sold already. Sadly, the owner of two of them, a Sydney based millionaire, has died since taking delivery just months ago and couldn't take them with him. The two cars are now "on consignment" with a dealer." (The Age 9/10)

Poor fellow indeed.

Whilst it may be unsavoury to think about, the resale implications cannot be good! 2/3 of the total market for sale...

I regretfully inform forum members that it was indeed "maybach", once a member here, who passed away recently.

Kindest regards and best wishes to his family.

I thought it wasn't him because how do you explain his last post dated 10-18?

From an Australian website:

Maybach madness

After going to extraordinary lengths to remain anonymous, Sydney's Maybach fraternity are now bursting to name names and claim claims.

Last Friday, Spike reported on an interview in the Herald's motoring section with the property developer Kovelan Bangaru, who said he was the first to order a million-dollar Maybach, even though he was not the first to take delivery.

That sparked a counterclaim from the Mercedes-Benz dealer Greg Sanderson, who said he was the first, ordering last winter, about the same time Bangaru saw one at Harrods and decided to buy.

While Sanderson's Maybach was in transit, his son, Will, offered the car to Bangaru, who declined it because it had two-tone paint. Soon after, another property developer, Bernard Lewis, who died last week, said he'd take the car, and paid in full before it arrived.

Buoyed by the sale, Mercedes-Benz Australia decided to import a second Maybach, the even more expensive, $1.15 million Maybach 62.

As Lewis's health deteriorated, he decided the longer version of the car would suit him, and asked Sanderson's if it would sell his original Maybach on consignment if he bought the bigger one. As Lewis could no longer fly, the reclining rear seats in the stretched Maybach would be just the thing for a long drive to Brisbane, where many of his properties are located.

When Sanderson's delivered Lewis's second Maybach to his apartment in "the Toaster", it found the first one parked where it was left. The car now sits in Mercedes' Rushcutters Bay showroom with just 42kilometres on the clock.

So, who's first? According to Mercedes, the car that went to Lewis was the first Maybach ordered in Australia, but Bangaru's was the first ordered to a customer's specifications. After all that, there are three Maybachs, but only two owners. Anyone fancy a low-kilometre used car?

The AUD is currently at 78 US cents so even with the currency the price is twice that of the US. I believe it is the Luxury Car Tax that makes the difference.

It is indeed

the LCT applies on cars costing around $AUD60,000 which is really not a lot of money, so by the time your talking Maybachs, the $ figure for taxes is getting pretty crazy.

Who is the monkey that pretended to write this article. That particular MayBach has been sold since the Sydney Motor Show. The news is so old that when it came out there were still propellers on QANTAS planes.
