Diagram of the V8 engine
Does anyone have a diagram of the V8 engine (R230) and illustrations of where the fluids go? Example: Transmission fluid, brake fluid, Hydralic fluid, etc. Or it would be very helpful if someone can take a picture and label where all the fluids goes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Note : those page #'s are from the C43 manual - your's maybe different but it wouldn't hurt yourself to become familiar with the manual.

This is NOT an R230. It's a W208/CLK430, but it also uses an M113 engine.
1 - Motor oil dip stick
2 - Motor oil filler cap
3 - Heated windshield washer/headlamp washer fluid reservoir
4 - Coolant tank
5 - Master cylinder with the brake fluid reservoir

Question
Is there a dipstick in this area marked below for the transmission fluid? Does this dipstick-hole-looking-area need to be covered? Mine has a dipstick-hole in the area marked in the diagram below, but it does not have a dipstick. I am wondering if MB took this out and forgot to put it back in. If so, then dust can get into my fluid and possibly cause problems. Someone, please let me know. Thanks a lot in advance.

There should be a cap on the A/T filler tube - but no dipstick.
The cap has a plastic clip that has to be replaced each time the cover is removed to keep it secured tight.
MB has a service tool for measuring the fluid level, but it's longer than the filler tube and can't be left in place (like you would see on other makes).
I suppose this was to preclude over filling the transmission AND the fact the 772.6 transmission uses a specific MB synthetic ATF. You cannot use any other type of ATF in this transmission.

It’s my understanding that the 722-607 five speed automatic is what Mercedes-Benz refers to as a “permanent fill” automatic. This does not mean that the transmission fluid need never be changed, however the normal practice of checking the fluid level need not be performed.

You are correct, it does have a cap with an hourglass body that's about two inches long.
It does not need to be replaced each time.........
