Dropped my car while changing tire, wont start now

Well this sucks.

I was changing the rear driver side tire and the jack gave out on me, the road was at a SLIGHT incline and thats what got me. I was mounting the tire at the time and just missed losing a couple of fingers, but the car fell and landed on the rotor. Rotor looks ok, but the guard behind it was bent, I spun the rotor a few times and the bend in the guard doesn't contact the rotor, nonetheless I'm gonna take it in to get that pulled back. But no other part of the car touched the ground.

So after I was done, I went to try and start the car and it just clicks, wont turn over. Tried boosting it and nothing. A warning light comes on that says to check brake fluid, so maybe something happened to that when it fell? There were no fluids underneath the car at the time.

Or is it my starter? Any info would be much appreciated, thanks.

Its on a 2001 C320 sport sedan btw.

If it just clicks, you have a dead battery.

Coincidence.

The no start could be many things, battery is a possibility. However if it came down on the rotor it is likely that it is bent. Even 1000th out would make it unusable. Better have someone put a dial gage on it to check it out. Didn't you chock the car before you jacked it??

I dont understand what you mean by choke the car, sorry. But thanks for your guys replys. I called the dealership this morning and the guy was super nice to me, talked to me for a good 10 minutes. Said it has nothing to do with being dropped, just the battery.

He advised me to go and pick up a trickle charger instead of getting it towed, and then to drive it in to get the gaurd looked it which he said by the sounds of things was ok as well.

I nearly pissed myself when that car came down and hit the ground, ughhhhh. Not a pleasant thing to happen.

Chock, not Choke

When you jack a car you need to physically block a wheel that stays on the ground, on the downhill side, to prevent it from rolling. Always. The rock, brick or commercial device that you wedge under the wheel is called a "chock."

Mercedes sells wheel chocks for ~$10.

203 583 00 75

They fold up for storage.

Get two.

My car came with a little fold up chock. Naturally, my car fell off the jack opposite the direction I placed the chock. I was lucky, however, because I had not taken off the wheel. I learned my lesson. I stopped, put the jack away and called roadside. 30 minutes later a fella showed up, put on the spare, and sent me on my way. No Charge.

Yah, that makes sense, should of done that the first time.

But, I trickle charged it for 3 hours and it started up for me.

But now, my headunit wont power on. I dont understand that at all, you could turn it on even though you couldn't start the car. But now that the car is started, I cant turn on the audio power.

Checked the fuses on the drivers side door, they're all good. I'm scheduled in for tuesday at the dealership, so if I cant figure it out by then, they can look at it.

not unusual for head unit itself to have a fuse....on the back of the chassis.

I have found that when ever the battery power has been disrupted for more than 30 seconds the radio equipment will lose its "ID" code from the memory which you know identifies the audio equipment for that car. Just switch on the power to the radio and set in the code (taken from a dealer service record) follow the instructions on the face of the radio unit. The dealer can help you over the phone to do this.
