Serial#

Going online to order ignition parts. spark plug wires & connectors. They are asking what engine serial # it has. Does anyone know where to find this number on a '96 S320?
Thanks

The best I can tell you is that it's a 112.9xx yyyy......, and I believe the serial number is stamped on the engine on the backside, passenger side, close to the top on the engine. Good luck.

Sorry, my mistake -- I forgot that the 3.2's were straight 6's in those days. I went to http:www.allgermanparts.com and they show a 96 S320 as having an engine number of 104.994 and chassis 140.032. I didn't check for any ignition parts that you're looking for. Hope this helps.

Regards,
paul...

Your dealer knows your engine serial number by knowing your VIN number.

Surprised vendor can't help.

Thanks for your info

Paul, Thanks. On that site it doesn't ask for a Serial number. I guess I'll just order and send it back if its not right. I want to get this done asap.
Thanks again & wish you a good holiday season.

Thanks, I called Local dealer - said it stamped on engine some place. When asked about using the VIN he said that wouldn't help. BUt I really felt he just didn't want to bother. Thanks
There needs to be a site you can enter your vin & get this type of info. Oh well

lkchris is right -- the dealer can input your VIN into either EPC or WIS and get all that info in about 5 minutes -- it really sounds like the dealer didn't want to bother.

If you're not sure about using online part shops, give Rob Lewis a call at his dealership (513-870-1030) as he gives discounts to MBWorld members and you'll have the exact parts you need.

Regards,
paul...
