You can make a jumper wire to replace the relay to test pump.
Did fuel run out of the tank when you changed the filter? If so how much?
any rust come out of filter?
The relay is in the fuse box, I can't remember which one it is.
Chilton's manuals have this information
I think that the pump runs when you first turn on the ignition for a few seconds.
If I remember correctly, you can remove the air cleaner and depress the air flow plate and cause the pump to run also.
Wish I could help find the relay it's been 12 years and I just can't remember.
just the filter and the accumulator.
and they where both full of gas.no rust at all.
and gas spraying out of the hose that goes
into the accumulator.
i havent ever heard my pump make any noise
Ok good no rust, and fuel coming out means not plugged in tank.
How much fuel did you put back in the tank?
The fuse box (drivers side under hood) may have information on a paper inside. It may give you a clue to which relay is the fuel pump. I'll do a search and see what I can find.
I think it is a short one in the middle--mean wile you could do a search for a part number for the relay. maby find it that way.

Most part stores can get you a Chilton's manual not the best but better than nothing.
On the side of the relay is a diagram of the relay, and a part number.
See if you can bench test the relay.
