Transmission starting in 2 in sport mode

There has been a lot of talk of an ecu re-flash on 07 E63s to cure the problem of the transmission starting out in 2 while in the S mode. How can I find someway to identify this fix. I have been to two dealerships, and they are willing to help but don't know how.

For me I solve this problem by putting my foot into it hard a few times. The only time my tranny starts in 2 when in S is after Ive been driving slow and easy for a while. Redline in through 1st and 2nd and it goes away. It seems the tranny adapts to the driving style. Rentech has a tranny ECU flash but say you don't need it unless you get the 100hp epgrade they are working on.

I had my car re-flashed, and it always starts in 1 in S mode.

I don't know what the re-flash is called because I got no paperwork when they did it. Had it done at Dick Dyer in Columbia, SC. Ask for John Madison. He has a good attitude, and should be able to tell any service rep. what they did.

This is my first post so bear with me. I too noticed my CLK63 would start in 2nd while in s mode. I had the dealer check it out and they said that it is programmed to do that but will start in 1st once the rpm has gone above 2800. Sure enough, once going over 2800 it did star in 1st. Not sure if there's a way to eliminate that altogether but it doesn't mean going to redline to get rid of it. Hope this helps.

I was told the same thing by Baker Motors in Chas., SC. They even showed me a memo are something from Mercedes explaining it. Nobody thought it was a good idea, but could do nothing about it. Did some research. Found someone that had his car re-flashed at Dick Dyer in Columbia, SC. That is where I got my car. Called them and talked to John Madison. He said bring it up one day, which I did. Took less than an hour. Like I said, I don't know what it is called, but it made the car a lot more responsive. It always starts in 1 in S mode.

Did you fix it?

I usually fix this problem with a ecu flash of the 7Gtronic. U can also run a adaptation program (via the stardiagnosis) which will fix bad shifting. This "new" 7 speed transmission WILL adapt to the way u drive, always, and its is case sensitive with the AMG shifting program, so drive it like a granny and it will need some time to adapt to aggresive driving again. So always switch to C when driving normally, this will cure your problems... Way to many people use S for everyday use (when driving like grannys).
