The 60K service depends on what's previously been done. Much of it is related to time versus mileage and whether you're still under warrantee. Here are the variables -
  • Was the coolant changed? It's due every 3 years
  • Brake fluid changed? Due every 2 years
  • The drive belt?
  • The engine air filters?
  • What do the motor mounts look like? These are covered under warrantee.
  • Were the rear diff seals leaking? This are covered under warrantee.
  • Are the spark plugs 4 or 5 years old? Although for $950, I doubt they included plugs.
  • Are the flex discs cracked? These are covered under warrantee.
  • How were the suspension bushings? These are covered under warrantee.
Regarding price, it will vary on the establishment. Some dealers charge $90 for an oil change. Others want double.

On a straight "B" service (no coolant, no brake fluid), my local dealer wants between $400 and $500. Naturally, at those prices I do it myself.

thanks for the info
i have no clue how the previous record was since i just bought the car, but i got the whole service done, everything from spark plugs to air filter to oil. my car is out of warrenty and it was done at a private shop, so does 950 sound too high ?

If you got someone to change the oil (8 quarts of Mobil1 and a fleece filter is $48 + $17), the coolant (about $8 in antifreeze), the brake fluid ($30 for two liters of Ate 200), the engine fan belt (part number 011-997-97-92 is $65), engine air filters (about $30 aftermarket Mann filters), cabin filter ($20 in parts), fuel filter ($40 in parts), and the plugs (16 Bosch FR8DPP33 plugs at $15 or so per plug) all for $950 – you did well. I’d charge more than that.

Like I said, my local dealer wants between $400 and $500 for a regular B service, another $100 (P&L) each for the brake fluid flush, coolant service, drive belt, and fuel filter. At least $50 for the cabin filter. Then toss in at least $500 for the plugs.

All that's left is the transmission fluid change - my dealer charges about $325, but that for a complete change. I've heard others pay closer to $250, but that's for 4 quarts.

You did very well.

03 E500 and Corvette
As the commercial states.. "What's in your wallet"

Brakes rotors, oil/filt air filt.. cabin filt. alignment tires and the list goes on

So the real question is what does it really need at 60K . Best of luck.

I just got my "B" service last week, my car is at 59,xxx miles, and I paid $407.00; this included oil change, brake fluid change, and coolant change. They recommend that I replace my flex discs because they are "separating", is that normal?
