Does this mean that the strut will need to be replaced? What does that normally cost?

Did yours drip hydrolic fluid on the garage floor. Mine just started to drip about a quarter size drop a couple of days ago and when I checked out the strut arm and shock they were covered with fluid. I have a 3 year 100K CPO warranty so Mereceds will be paying for these problems for the next 3 years. Also how long did the dealer have your SL to complete the fix?Originally Posted by saltydog
same thing on ours. quoted 1300 and not real happy.

we bought the sl used and the guy that we bought it from had an extended warranty from mercury that came with the car. it does not cover the repair for the shock. we decided to wait until after the holidays to fix it. it's just a toy leaking a little bit of hydo fluid in the garage.
who do you have your extended warranty with. and let us know if they cover it. if we can pick up a policy that does not exclude everything in their fine print it would be great.
thanks jeff

Mine is the Mercedes certified pre-owned warranty that I paid $4K to extend to 3 years and or the 100K miles. It covers everything bumper to bumper except for wear items like brake pads, etc. You can't buy this warranty unless you buy the car from a Mercedes dealship and its a CPO car. I will keep the car for the 3 years and depending on how much is replaced under warranty, like they end up replacing everything in that 3 years I might then keep it. I'm retired so I don't have anything to do but have my car fixed and I get a free loaner everytime it goes in for any work, I'm there worst nightmare Originally Posted by saltydog

I brought my car about three months ago and a few weeks ago I notices it hitting on the right side of the car. I had the mercedes look at it and they said the right side was leaking and the person I got it from didn't have the ext. warranty on it so repaires they said is $1300..$800 for the shock $400 to 500 in labor but think to ebay I found a new one for $375. That is just crazy that something like that could cost that much for one part that not dealing with engine or computer part.

The adjustable shocks on my Corvette are easily $500 each so yes it is possible. But I would NEVER buy a used one due to age on the rubber diaphram. I hope the Ebay is brand new in the box.Originally Posted by geeaccord

When my right one leaked dealer replaced both rear struts under warranty. Said they had to be replaced in pairs. So its more like $2600 for both. I love my CPO extended warranty. Originally Posted by geeaccord

Couldn't be the line from the shock/ram that carries the fluid?
On a 126 with self leveling I had the leaking fluid from the ram/shock unit, and it was the line and not the ram.

Possible, my whole shock/ram was wet. So they replaced both rears under warranty.Originally Posted by BENZITCH
