13 pin electrical o-ring connector on transmission

Just wondering if anyone knows when they fix the leak from the 13 pin electrical o-ring connector leak on the R230 SL, if they drain all the transmission fluid during this fix and replace it with new fluid?

Barely any comes out when you pull it. Just take the electrical connector off, unbolt the 7mm bolt, and pull, the reverse with the new plug. If any more than half a quart came out I would be suprised.

the reason i said to take 1-2 is to be safe so fluid does not constantly drip out with the connector removed. Also, use contact cleaner on the connector and make sure the pins are all dry.

my 04 C32 51k miles just got diagnosed with the same problem by the dealer. heard it's common on these trannies.

is there a bulletin or recall for these problems, you guys know of?

it will cost me $250 to replace which is not bad, but just thought of finding if theres any recall since this is common.

thanks

I believe there is a bulletin on it. I had it done on an '04 E55 - the O rings have been redesigned.

I got mine back the other day after the dealer fixed it and I still have some drops of fluid on the garage floor. Don't know if its from the pin area or if it is just fluid that was on the transmission that was not cleaned off. My SA said to keep an eye on it and if it continues to drip bring it back in. Figure when the weather get better I will take it to the car wash and get the bottom blasted. If it drips after that back to the dealer I will go. Could it be anything else leaking? Any other common leaks in the transmission area? Would of thought when the pin was changed they would of checked everthing out and ruled out other possilble causes? I use to get some oil drips when I would have the oil changed on my Landcruiser because they did not wash all the spilled oil off the bottom of the engine and I would have to spray it clean myself to insure everything was OK.
