ML430 non start and ESP BAS light
Hi, can anyone help. Car wouldn't start so called AA out and had the battery replaced. Two weeks later car wouldn't start. Recharged battery and put on car. Car started but ESP BAS light came on - done the steering wheel rotate from left to right and that worked. The next day car would not start. Recharged battery just in case. Put on car and no start - then jump started it and that was fine. ESP BAS light is on and won't go out and the car will only move about 2miles and hour. Can anyone help. Thanks

Hello,
I got same vehicle and same light on, but my doesn't go to "limp mode" (crawling to next service) like yours. I can tell you that I found a lot about ESP/BAS light over past few days and got scared of it for money MB charge for repairs... but what might be interesting for you is that whenever battery voltage drops that light will come on by default. As you replaced battery already, then problem very well might not be in the ESP/BAS circuits (better for you) but something else draining battery from inside.
As you couldn't start vehicle I can think that your voltage regulator on alternator is shorted, as I had same thing on my Ford. Measure voltage on recharged battery while engine is on (then it should be >13V) and if it start dropping then alternator doesn't charge for shorted regulator.
Try it first and good luck as any shop can service alternator.

gunar

Well than, does it try to turn starter or not. It should at least try to crank it if battery isn't drained completely. If battery drains over night, then something is draining it from inside.
