How to reprogram SmartKey/Keyless Go?

I just had a replacement key sent to me via Fed-X from my dealer because the second key was never given to me at delivery of the vehicle. The new key will unlock the doors by pushing the buttons on the key but the car won't recognize the key for the Keyless Go system. Do I have to drive to the dealer to have this programmed or can someone here please help me?

I read somewhere, possibly on here, that you are supposed to stick the key into the ignition, position 1, for up to 1/2 hr. Can't remember what indication you would see when its synchronized with the EIS. HTH

Thanks, I will give them a call. This whole ordeal has been a pain in the butt. They Fed-X'd the key so I didn't have to go down. Looks like I might have to make the 1 1/2 hour drive to have this handled.

They probably ordered you the wrong key. Did the key come in a bag with the part# on it?
if its 211-766-77-06 then it's the incorrect key.

Not sure if you already got it done or not.
If they got you an additional key, it will work right away.
If they got you a replacement key,you have to put it in the ignition & there will some sort of display on the cluster telling you to wait, when that is done turn to position 2 & wait again till you are able to shift out of park.
When you are able to shift out of park its all done.
The wating time depends on how many times the old key was used for, as the programing of the new one will have to over ride all the codes from the missing key.
It could be 20 minuts & could be hours, put a batt charger on it.

yes you have to use das to reprogram kg track ,depending on what year it is you can only have two assigned as kg ,

I dont think das is neaded.
The only problem is if the missing key was blocked, then he needs to go to the dealer to open the track with a green key, not das.
And you can assign more keys, but the convinience options will not work (I think).

ML500 AMG pkg
Without the model and year it's difficult to say, there are many variations of KG. Usually the dealers order a non KG key (which can be identified by removing the batteries, 1 battery KG, 2 batteries non KG on older keys, new keys are different). Some models no DAS required most SL's require DAS.
