Voice control module

One more question techs...

I am having trouble understanding this...

There is a person on benzworld selling a voice control module for a D2B system and says that it will work in my 03 clk 100%. He also says that it will plug in my trunk, the wires that it will plug into are already there.

Now my question is i know this voice control module is suppose to control radio, cassette, phone and nav etc. But what i dont understand is that why would it plug in the trunk? What buttons are used to say the voice commands?

Am i missing something or am i not understanding this voice control module properly?

The module is usually installed as part of phone installation, but it doesn't have to be. It is installed in the trunk. Part of the kit is a a stalk, which is installed on the steering column. The stalk connects to a switch that is pre-installed. Pulling this stalk activates the VCS. You interact only through the microphone (already installed for Tele-aid). There are no buttons.

You will also need two optic lines to add the VCS

Did you look under the plastic panel underneath the center trunk carpet?

BTW, without the phone integration the D2B VCS is of limited value. Most of the functions are faster to perform by pressing a button on COMAND. The MOST VCS has a much richer set of functions. For instance, you can program the nav by voice, including saying the name of a city. There is not enough compute power in the D2B system to support this. I've had VCS/phone in both D2B and MOST cars. In the MOST, I use VCS 90% for phone. With D2B it was almost 100%.

No. I'm saying the VCS is more justifiable if you have a MOST car, unless you also have the phone integration.

Did you download the bulletin? According to it, yes, you need to version code the ring configuration. Some people have reported that some versions will auto detect changes, but it's not recommended. A dealer install would certainly version code.
