clk500 driving a/c went warm but still blew air, loud noise coming driver front
loud engine noise started from the front lower part of the engine? all the belts are still there..no overheating occured..oil is full..just real noisy..doesnt effect handling or power of car seems to run fine just real noisy..
compressor? any idea what happened? is it driveable?i need to get it home and i cant afford a tow or to even fix this now...
any help would be great..thanks guys
You might be able to drive it. As long as the pulley is spinning you should be fine for now, if it locks up the belt to be destroyed which will no longer spin the alternator and the battery will die.
you think i can drive like this for a bit or just temporary?
i cant afford to fix it...im gonna have to put it up for sale now
Time to find out whats wrong. It may be something very simple.
(I don't know if it will work or not, if it does, remember which way all the pulleys need to travel).

Worth the cost of the belt to keep yourself going

With the drivebelt off spin all the pulleys by hand (except crankshaft obviously). They should all spin without much effort. If the A/C is hard to turn or grinds then there is the problem
edit: just found that the A/C was the problem in another thread. still worth noting for sudden loud noises from the engine bay even though balancer failures are becoming rarer.
