engine vibration at 4200rpm???

Need help on this one guys...maybe someone can offer some insight....the car is a 99 clk320

I just took it out of storage(did use it occasionally during the winter tho) due to our cold winters in montreal and when starting it, no problems. I did notice some minor vibration when giving some gas(in park positon) at low rpms, but the vibrations have gone away.....then when I gave it more gas(again in the park position) the car started to vibrate rather violently at 4200rpm...it does not go past that point even if gassed even more, when reving' at anything lower it is fine. What could be the problem.....any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks
derek

When yo drive the car at 4200rpm + is everything smooth?

I don't think some engines are allowed to exceed a certain rpm in park.

Thanks for the reply, everything is smooth at below 4200, the car runs normally.
When driving there is no vibration at all, only when I hit 4200rpm...which I do not due to the situation.
Thanks

You're hitting the rev limiter. It doesn't allow the engine to rev past a certain speed when the shifter is in park.

Thanks for the reply.....
I noticed today when driving there is some vibration at the lower RPM's and when about to do some spirited drivin(to see if the problem is still there) it still vibrates and shudders at 4200rpm's .......
One question tho, is it suppose to vibrate, almost violently when hitting the rev limiter?
Thanks again

Just to confirm:

Is your car shuddering etc at 4200rpms while driving or only when in park?

Could the gas have gone bad and/or picked up water while it was in storage.

Why do you need to rev up your car to 4200 rpm in park?

Why do you need to rev up your car to 4200 rpm in park?
The only reason why I did this was because when i first started my car, it was a cold day outside(damn Canada). While it was warming up, it was vibrating a little. So I was curious to see why, and if i gave it some gas, if it would magically dissappear. I was wrong.

Could the gas have gone bad and/or picked up water while it was in storage
I was wondering that also. Anyone have recommedations on injector/water remover cleaners......i.e. techron?

Thanks
