Calling Australian enthusiasts - buying group for Aussies
I notice that we do not have a Club oriented buying group in Australia. We seem to do all our dealing with workshops and retailers.
If Aussies could be bothered to setup a club for buying we could do the following.
- Purchase our cars under a corporate plan with 3% discount and free servicing for 3 years plus parking at the Airport.
- negotiate up to 85% discount locally on imported parts, typically 50%
- get paint and body repairs done for the best prices in Australia using Glasurit paint exclusively.
- save up to 90% on freight costs by collecting orders
- have access to diagnostic tools and help out on weekends and evenings.
- share special tools
We can only do this if we work as a group instead of individually negotiating with retailers. Im in Sydney. Want to meet 2 other people interested in working together on getting top value.
If we communicate we can establish the best deals without having to beg for discounts.

If I can get part-time admin in Melbourne and Sydney going we should be able to start pooling orders - even new cars are not off-limits.

I'm hoping to establish 3 GO-TO people. Then with the three founding members setup all the buying accounts as needed and pool the information about sourcing.

This sounds interesting, are you able to elaborate more on all of this and exactly how it works, otherwise please keep me informed especially considering the pricing of everything associated with MB Australia I certainly am looking for any possible savings considering I'll be looking at long term MB vehicle ownership.

I am interested in the concept .Why not contact all state MB car clubs & tie them in ?
In the past car clubs sold regularly used item at their club house & issued cams membership cards which received discounts at various outlets eg Repco ect.

I think stick to reliable forums and keep it simple.

I'm in Brisbane also, and would love to get a better deal than what most of Australian retailers can offer. Unfortunately, it only takes one Lowey to back out of a deal/disappear/not pay for goods to wreck any type of 'good will' group. And let's face it, internet forums will find more than your share...
Perhaps even a list of OS/Australian retailers would be a great start. Where do people currently source parts? As a new merc owner, this is all new for me. I am finding ebay in UK is by far the best place to source little bits and pieces. I've found Australian MB dedicated stores cannot even get close.
Where do you guys buy parts/consumables?

All quiet here for a couple of months and certainly no real feed back on the whole topic either - benzmods is this whole concept a non event then
There was alot of interest and certainly could've generated alot more if it became a reality, with vehicle costs the way they are here in Australia most people would certainly be interested in taking a look at something like this, pity it just looks like another one of those useless threads
